So....Chicago has come n gone. It was amazing. Best trip I've ever been on...not like I have a lot to compare it to! It's amazing how a trip like that can be so motivating, so inspiring. A Floridian, born n raised, I know nothing but palm trees, beaches, and sunshine....too much sunshine. Much like NY, it's a completely different world.
The museum was the greatest art building I've ever stepped foot in. It's craaazy to see paintings that you see in the textbooks. Just to be near something that THAT well known....it's somethin else. At the time, the artist had no idea that many years later, their piece(s) would be worth millions, and attract millions.
We did a gangster tour....saw spots where mafia men were killed, hung out, and met. How's that for historic! lol It's just neat to know in the roaring 20s on those very streets men were making millions doing illegal bootlegging and killing one another for power and space. They ran Chicago in their time. Even the cops bowed down to them.
I love the hustle and the bustle of a large city. Millions of people in such a small area is bound to be good times. The food there is EXCELLENT. The aunt, uncle, and I decided to try two of the top Chicago-style pizza places and compare the two. The last night we were there we went to a GREAT Italian place. Anyone who knows me knows how I feel about Italian..so this was perfect. On Friday nights, cabs dropped nicely dressed folks off at expensive restaurants where they meet with friends and chat over drinks. Couples walk arm in arm through the FROZEN streets on their way to dinner, shopping, or a show. I love it. I'd like to start taking advantage of downtown Orlando (since that's all we've got), get all dolled up, and do a girls night out.
The night before I left, I looked up rent in the city. It really wasn't as horrible as I thought it'd be. I'd move there tomorrow if I didn't have obligations. I'm now on a mission to make it happen after I get my BFA. Time will tell.
