I remember that movie, "The Princess Bride", when the hero says something like "masks are really comfortable, everyone's gonna use them in the future". Mind you, he was a mysterious pirate and a charachter in a fantasy movie - therefore he was kind of bound to wear a mask - but there's still some wisdom in those words.
Maybe it's because only behind a mask we feel safe enough to let feelings get close, and only once every hundreds days and nights we let ourselves go crazy enough to forget how afraid of pain we are (and one could say that constant fear of pain is worse than pain itself, but whatever).
Let's wear a mask, let's join the frenzy...

THE CARNIVAL*
Don't melt with me, don't penetrate into me, we'd only hurt each other
Let's not cry through the shivers, we don't even know where the wounds are
Loving and living we only hurt each other
Despairing and hoping we don't know the pain of wounds
Our prayer is aimed to the skies, our relief turns into rain
For how many thousands moons and nights holding breath i wait for someone
Biting scorching sand, forgetting the pain of wounds
A bewitching scent in the marketplace, frenzied dances already in the square
Carnival's masked night, madness parade
If we pour a little true blood we'll love each other
Overflowing with love you're loved strong and deep
Carnival's masked night, madness parade
If we pour a little true blood we'll love each other
Forgive each other... so laugh...
CARNEVALE
*It's not that i didn't translate the word "Shanikusai"... but it means "Carnival", so "Carnival - Carnival" as a title wasn't really an option.
