I just got a call from my mom, telling me to check my voicemail. Apparently a representative from Jeopardy! had tried calling my cell phone and, upon not reaching me, had called my listed home phone number (my mom's house). Possible excitement! I auditioned last April, and they keep people in the applicant pool for 18 months, so I know that technically I could get called up any time and be invited to appear on the show, but I've pretty much been assuming that's not going to happen and at this point had almost entirely forgotten about the whole thing. I mean, I think I did quite well on the test at the audition and I certainly did ok at the practice game, but the "personality test" (mock interview) segment wasn't so hot, and anyway even if you do well at the audition, the odds of actually getting chosen to be on the show are pretty small. But if they're calling me, then just maybe...?
Anyway, I listened to the message, and all the person said is that she wants to confirm that the information in my application is still current. Probably this is just some routine thing, right? I tried calling back (figuring that it's still a decent hour in California, even if it's late here), but all I got was the representative's voicemail. So, now I'm stuck wondering until tomorrow. And I can't even call first thing in the morning because of the time difference, so I'm going to have to wait at least until I get out of work at 3. Gah.
ETA: Ok, now I've spent most of the past three hours (which I should have spent sleeping) reading the experience stories of former contestants, and I'm increasingly convinced that they don't routinely call people just to keep their records up to date. Holy trivia, Batman, I think maybe I'm going to be on Jeopardy! ...
