A Newbie's guide to Arcadia.

Okay. Now that you're in the game, you probably don't know where to start or what to do. Which is fine, we have to begin somewhere, right? Of course <3. So, other than the FAQ, this is a bit of a guide to help you through the game as well as the city of Arcadia.

Firstly, you have to join the communities, arcadia_rpg and arcadiaooc, which is self explanatory, using the quick add and all of the like. You must have a character journal to be involved. Don't ever be afraid to introduce yourself in arcadiaooc, where you can meet your fellow players, introduce your character. Maybe your character's got special abilities.

PLEASE, PLEASE remember schooling is OPTIONAL!! Your character doesn't HAVE to go to school, doesn't have to pick up any courses, you're free to assume, hey, they were hired on somewhere. Paranormal events and such aren't uncommon. Soul Societies and Hellsing can function here...I am not stopping you. For the sake of sanity and plus I rather not have this multi-fandom CITY game get mistaken as another school game, SCHOOL IS NOT REQUIRED. How your character got here is up to you -- they could be here for refuge, were sent here, moved here, and even got LOST here is up to you. If they're dead, they were brought back to life and are officially stuck here, until they really make waves with the Gods.

Housing for newcomers varies, if your character is NOT apart of either school, more than likely they will find themselves in Verdandi, the most affordable place to live, and plus where Candor Uni is, that is the center of the city, most of the major buildings lie there. Since this city is a nexus, multi-dimensional type of thing, they offer affordable apartment complexes in Verdandi, and this is partially in thanks of a deity Brahma, who disguises himself as the governor. Apartments are rather simple -- they can be one to three bedrooms, one to two bathrooms, depending if your character is station with someone, went their on their own will, or simply seeking refuge.

Housing in Candor comes in two different forms: There are your REGULAR dorms, and there are the student apartments, in Deva, that tend to be smaller than the ones in Skuld. Skuld is like a neighborhood of the sorts, whereas in Deva, the apartments are with the business buildings. If you are underaged and cannot live on your own, Tartarus Academy is a basically partially a boarding school, offers rooms of it's own for those who cannot live on their own. This is purely optional and some students of Tartarus right now aren't always roomed there.

Of course, your character doesn't ALWAYS have to live in Verdandi or Methuselah, they are free to live in other parts of the city, depending on their wealth. Calliope is the most expensive and Sidhe tends to have less of a urban population or suburbs.

The Gods are NPCS, who are responsible for the creation of Arcadia. The amount of them is rather unknown, but there are six of them total who control four districts. Not all of them are friendly and not all of them are all-knowing and omnipresent. They do NOT know everything about your character, but they DO read the network and will hack entries. For further clarification, you are welcome to personally ask me, the mod, about the Gods. But rest assured, they are powerless, as it is the theme of this game -- they wish to only steal your characters abilities or/and powers by means of tricking them an bargaining with them. Limits are in place for a reason, if there wasn't, they would run rampant.

Is it possible for characters to have affiliations with Gods? Yes, it is. If you'd like them to, you can ping me, ask me any time up front. Remember one of them poses as the chief of police and manages the police force, so anyone can mingle with him. And your character doesn't HAVE to be a police -- they can be a shinigami, exorcist, demon hunter, vampire slayer -- you get the idea. I ask for only for you to be realistic about it.

We run on comments, logs, and threads, in a matter of speaking, Arcadia runs on wireless internet, everyone upon coming into Arcadia is given a free communicator. The journal system is the internet and ways of communication. Matter of fact, the government (read: Gods) encourage your involvement over the network because it's easier to watch~. Logs can be through different forms: Aol instant messenger/trillian/Yahoo/MSN/meebo. We do not pertain to one form of instant messenger, but AIM typically is more frequently used. If you don't have either, you are free to make as MANY OOC notes as possible via the comments or abusing arcadiaooc at your leisure. If you're used to a system of RP with comments, I will not discourage you at all, but most of our members typically use the logs. Threads are open logs, open to anyone and their mother in arcadia_rpg. The tags are there to keep track of logs and can be looked up upon reference. If you don't know much about the tags, let me handle them <3

Keep in mind you cannot assume most things over journals, like appearances, what they're doing, their abilities, where they came from, thoughts, etc. OTHERWISE noted. That in my eyes is god-modding. And god-moding is one of my pet peeves, against the rules.

Handling of OOC issues is done through candorarcadia, and if there are a certain amount of concerns raised, the questionable player will be pulled aside and dealt with. Now, if you have any other issues, I strongly encourage you to make use of that and contact me PERSONALLY. Making drama and not seeking modly help is frowned upon, and do not make a BRPS post without talking to me, please. I'm a member of it as well.

The wiki is at your disposal if you're trying to walk yourself through the game. I highly encourage it, as well as reading and using the FAQ.

Now, I hope this clears up any mass confusion for you <3 Remember, I'm here to help.
