That's it, it's over, said and done. There isn't anything left for them in the world, is there? No followers, no worshipers. Faith and divinity evolve, as much as mankind does. With every passing breath, man changes, along with it's beliefs. But no matter what they do or say, mankind chooses to understand everything by faith. To the explanation of why the stars are in the sky, down to the long river, created by a goddess' tears. They're blurring, they're fading, the old Gods of the old world. What will they do? The concept of a God defines they need worship or acknowledgment from mortals. Without the vaguest acknowledgment of mortals, how will they continue to exist? Their altars may be empty, but is there a way they can change that?
Of course there is! The old Gods insist! From the deepest, darkest depths of creation, they still lived.
I'm tired of this, they will say let us create something so that the morals will at least know we exist, so that we may keep our immortality, we must not fade.
The doubtful ones will cry from the back, How can we continue living, if we are not worshiped?! How do you create something to even let them know we exist? Our immortality is stable only through their pleadings and prayers. The most arrogant do not approve this idea. They were the ones that were feared in their old territories or admired. They simply not wish to define themselves as anything above mortals.
Even so, all of them - each of them - refuse to admit, that they need mortals to define their immortality. So the eldest of them of all the Gods, Simurgh, who had sat and watched many worlds destroyed three times over, spoke, If this is the case then we shall make our own world, so that we can keep on living. Alas, the old days have passed, no longer are idols sitting in their houses, no longer are their prayers filled with our names. But the world that we can create shall extend our immortality. The world shall be open to many, a Utopia for all, without them all knowing they continue our existence. The name from the old world, Arcadia.
Many of the old, forgotten Gods had gathered, as soon as the old world was thrown into a dark age. Forming each of their powers, a land was created, the Utopia the old and wise bird had spoke of, Arcadia. Though they created the world, the Gods soon realized it was unstable, was fading quickly. To their dismay, once again, they turned to the creator god, Brahma, who dreamed of the universe in a blink of an eye. Surely he would know the answer?
By that our powers have created this world, and it appears to be fading, we must bind ourselves to this land, to keep it going. Fear not, my friends! We shall keep living in the hearts of humans, one way or another.
The protests had filled in, the most arrogant and deceitful of the gods did not like this idea -- they would be stripped of their glorious powers. Loki had vowed Ragnork on each of them, every single mortal that would cross, so that he and amongst others would destroy another world of Ilucia to prove his point. But in the end, all of them agreed, not without their bitter anger, their feuds, and thus, Arcadia and the world surrounding it was formed again, opening it's gateway to many.
The anger between the Gods did not settle, they all went straight to Brahma once again, demanding satisfaction. The creator God, stripped of all of his powers, with the only one being to control each of them replied to their scowls and scorns, If all of you complain so much, then divide it into four pieces and do whatever you like! Your powers are not all lost, if you want to restore them, take them from the outsiders that come into this world.
And there, from that day, came from the Land of the Dead, Methuselah, by the strict rule of Brahma, Isis and Nepthys, the twin deities and kites were to stay in that land, to control the cursed section formed purely out of MALICE and spirits. No one in this division would live comfortably for long. And the moment this unstable place came to be, the dead would rise henceforth, but bound to the twin goddesses as well, the would never be able to leave.
From the north, would that be Verdandi so that Brahma may rest his weary legs and supervise all of them, like children. This would be the gateway where each of them would come, by a nexus interconnecting, the land of karma.
Down to the south, Sidhe, with it's lush forests, aquamarine seascape, and winds that would connect them all to their true selves, Simurgh would watch and wait. Untold knowledge lies here, but he can only do so much...! Though, they say, knowledge would not come without a price, forgetfulness, Lethe soon followed.
Finally, formed out of deceit, corruption, boiling and festering with deception, Calliope settled, the last of them all, where Loki would lie and wait, on the wings of the Ragnork.
....
Present day, many of come, the Gods lie and wait in the background, most of them observing, few of them sleeping. Baring from the old world Ilucia, many had flocked and settled. Arcadia is a Utopia to many. A new beginning. Whether it be to learn or to live, they come. However, not each of them that come here are virtuous, all of those who come from different worlds have different intentions. Needless to say, it's destiny and karma, they will clash one way or another.
The different sections formed from Godly feuds, unknowingly set the stage to perhaps a battle ground or the end of the world, it's not for certain. Will they be good and help others? Or will they strive for selfish reasons, stepping over the fallen to get what they want? Or will they simply continue living, to find their own goals, neither walking in the path of righteousness or self-indulgence.
That is up to them, the Gods suppose.
Et in Arcadia ego?
