Do You Love Me

Disclaimer- Queer as Folk does not belong to me. Neither do the lines I stole from "House" and "Fiddler on the Roof"

"Are you two not speaking?" Debbie asked Brian one morning, "Yes, we're speaking." he responded. And then, to prove his point, he called "More coffee!" to Justin. Debbie glared. Brian looked at her. "What I'd do?" She gave a huff. "You know fucking well what. He needs more-" She hushed as Justin filled Brian's cup silently. "More than the old Brian Kinney routine." Brian curled his hands around the mug. "We're not speaking because he won't talk. He just...sits there, looking at me with "that face." Debbie nodded. "The Justin face. What else?" Brian's pride almost stopped him from continuing, but Debbie was looking at him with kindness, and he knew she wanted to help Justin as much as he did.
"He cries when I hold him." Brian admitted. "But it's worse when I have to leave him, even for a moment. It's like..." Brian watched the thin blonde as he moved around the diner. "It's like he's afraid I won't come back." Debbie nodded. "You know what I think?" Brian sighed. "I'm pretty sure your going to tell me." She gave him a look, then continued. "I think he needs someone to..." she chose her next words carefully. "Love him."
Brian scoffed. "Everyone loves him!" "Do you?" Debbie countered. Brian sat, lost in thought a moment. Then, without giving Debbie an answer, he stood and took Justin's arm. "Come on, we're going home.: he said quietly. Justin looked at Debbie who smiled and nodded, giving him leave to go. The he allowed himself to be pulled out of the diner.

Justin was silent for almost the whole ride, until the quiet got to him. He turned to Brian and asking him the one question that had been gnawing at him since the night of the bashing.
"Brian?" he said in a small voice. "Hmmm?" Brian responded, not taking his eyes from the road. "Do you..." Justin falted. Brian waited for the boy to work out the word. "Do you love me?" Brian turned to look at him. "Do I what?" Justin stared at his hands. "Do you love me?"
Brian pulled the car over, stopping it completly. He leaned over and gave Justin the most un-Brian Kinney kiss possible. It was light, tender, sweet, and above all- loving. When he pulled back, he clasped Justin's face in his hands. "You don't need to ask me that again. Don't ever doubt that I love you." He kissed the surpised boy again, then restarted the car, and began to drive back to the loft, ready to prove to Justin, just how much he loved him. Justin smiled and leaned back in his seat. "Then...I suppose...I love you too."

It doesn't change a thing
But even so
It's nice to know.
