Building a rapport with your dental hygienist does not make her faster, nor hurt you any less. Judging from my experience this morning it may make her more THOROUGH.
One of the acting general dentists now used to be an assistant and her brother was my orthodontist when I had braces. I generally have a thing against blondes. She is an exception. We always chat each other up and she tries to be nosy about what's happening in my life. I do not mind.
I went digging around for my checkbook this morning and pulled just about everything apart. It was in a clearly marked box sitting behind my Macbook Pro the whole time. I didn't even end up using it today and now I'm thinking it's about time to dig through everything I own and throw out everything pre-2006. Today's off to a good start. I went to sleep at 11, woke at 8, teeth sparkly clean from 11 to 12:30, gym membership reactivated and exercise from 1 to 2ish. (Re: the exercise. England pushed me in the right direction but I'm a few steps back on the ladder from where I was 4 months ago pre-California.)
I like
Matt Good's take on exercise, but I'm still going to. Speaking of Matt Good.. he's FINALLY playing a show somewhere in striking distance, and I am going. Little history here. Back when I lived in Yonkers, NY oh, 10+ years ago, I was exposed to a lovely little channel called
MuchMusic, which, at the time, reminded me a lot of early MTV (you know, when they played videos and had fun VJs). In addition to gems like the yearly Christmas tree toss with Rick the Temp and Fromage (the year's worst videos), it introduced me to a few Canadian artists I would otherwise never have known about (Moist, Sloan, Our Lady Peace et al). One band in particular was called
Matthew Good Band. Yeah, right up my alley. Loved them immediately upon seeing the video for '
Everything Is Automatic' and kept right up with them for '
Apparitions' and '
Rico,' and '
Indestructible.' Then
Beautiful Midnight came out and I was pretty much hooked for life. '
Hello Time Bomb', '
Strange Days,' '
Load Me Up', and '
The Future Is X-Rated.' All fantastic. Much to my dismay, they broke up in 2002, but Good put out
Avalanche in 2003 and all was forgiven. They and now he, to my knowledge, have never played any shows within 50 miles of NYC, until now. I am excited. It won't be like seeing MGB in their heyday, and I believe this show is acoustic, but I'm not complaining. Matt Good's always been one of my personal heroes, and
his blog is pretty great as well. Yippee.
