It’s not invulnerability that makes kids like them act the way they do-it’s the exact opposite.
sometimes i think i'd be a lot less fucked up as an adult if i'd been more fucked up as a kid--or rather, fucked in more normal ways. my teenage years seemed to lack some essential sense of irony, mostly bypassing liquor, indifferent to drugs, nosediving straight into razorblades and empty pill bottles, visiting friends in psych wards. self-destruction without any of the fun and with all the side effects.
and on the counter, i think i'm probably relatively well-adjusted now because i got over the drug addiction stuff in high school (mostly). life's weird, man.
