MADBUM! MadBum is on my fantasy team, you see, and that's what I've been calling him all year and I've been trying to convince everyone else in my league that he's going to be really good this year, so I have a place in my heart for him and his enormous ears. Oh, MadBum.
This is wonderful. I admit that at first Buster was giving me flashbacks to a certain emotionally repressed 6'6" lefty from Chicago (or at least your fic version of him since that's BASICALLY ALL I KNOW ABOUT MARK MULDER ANYWAY) but in the end he totally didn't come out that way, and the above comment about him trying to come off like he knows what he's doing and can control the pitching staff is exactly what I wanted to say about him, only better than I could have said it. I have no idea what's going on in Buster's mind, but it works because that's obviously where Madison is too. And Madison is about the most endearing human being ever, what with not knowing how to booty-call and being overwhelmed by the whole, y'know, sex thing. Poor thing, at least he didn't have to deal with Zito too much.
Also, how did you manage to make a story about men named Posey and Bumgarner hot? You are a wizard, seriously.
hee hee, i like that you have totally embraced the ridiculousness of that nickname, and made it your own. and hell yeah he's gonna be really good this year! have people not seen madison bumgarner? plainly a superstar in the making.
i also see the parallels between fic buster and fic mulder, at least so far. somebody in the relationship always has to be jerky and screwed up in the head for me to really get into it, and buster plays the part so well.
