I'll be starting at Progressive at the end of June / beginning of July. I'm happy, but I hope I don't stress myself out too much. That means that rather than it being almost a year before I start my new job, it will only be 7 months until I start. That's a little scary cause I feel like I just jumped ahead a couple months - where did they go? what did I do? And I'm a couple months closer to not having my basement anymore. I will miss it a lot. I really hope this will be the start of something much better for me.
Brian had 2 interviews yesterday and neither really went well. He is having the hardest time trying to find a job. There just isn't anything in the Shenango Valley for someone with an english degree. I believe that english majors should really be warned from the beginning that it will be almost impossible to find a job after college - or they need to have better job placement or career development plans. Jay works at Walmart, Brian used to work at a call center, Christian works in a coffee shop, Meghan majored in communications and is a bank teller. None of these jobs require a degree!! They paid a ton of money to go backwards because they're all overqualified for their jobs and underqualified for everything else. Maybe its just the area though, I keep hoping that if they move to a city they will be able to find better jobs that will be both challenging and rewarding for them. I guess I should be glad that I am good with math and science rather than english.
