Nikki shifted in her seat again where she sat in the passenger seat of Ian's truck, crossing her left leg over her right this time . Her gaze was focused forward, watching the house for any sign of movement from the suspect. But she kept fidgeting. Ian's eyes were definitely NOT focused forward and feeling the heat of his gaze on her was making her squirm.
He worked alone. He was famous for it. Yet, somehow, here she was... on a stake out with Ian Edgerton. She suspected it hadn't been Don's orders that made this happen. She knew this was all Ian's idea.
"Would you stop?" she finally sighed, looking at him and trying not to smile when she saw him smirking back at her. She watched him shrug like he didn't know what she was talking about and she shook her head, her eyes going forward again. "You keep looking at me like you're starving and I'm a 20 ounce steak."
She watched him chuckle without so much as flinching in gazing at her hungrily. She swore she could read his thoughts then and not one of them was less than NC-17 rated. To spite herself, she smiled. "Seriously. You've got to stop," she chuckled and focused her gaze on the house. Still no movement, she sighed as she leaned back in her seat.
When his eyes were still on her, she looked at him again. "Is this even a real stake out? Or was this just an excuse to get me alone in the dark since we've not had 15 minutes alone since you came back to town?" She almost hoped it was the latter.
Ian just kept smiling at her. Somehow she knew if the stake out was a sham, he would've picked a more remote spot to be alone with her in his truck - perhaps a spot where no one would hear her crying out his name. She tried to fight back the tingles at the thought before he finally spoke.
"It is a real stakeout, but you know I work solo. This? This is me wanting to spend some time with you while I’m in town. You’re not bored with me already are you, Betancourt?"
"Definitely not bored," she answered and crossed her legs again, right over her left. She closed her eyes as this movement offered her only slight relief from the throbbing and growing heat between her legs. He was right there, right beside her. The first time they'd been alone in the five days since he'd come to town and she still couldn't have him. And god, she wanted him... especially when he kept looking at her like he meant to eat her alive.
Apparently she wasn’t the only one who could read minds in this vehicle. As though he knew what she’d been thinking, his smirk turned to a grin... one that only she would recognize. "Come here,” he breathed, motioning her with his head to move closer to him.
She didn’t even hesitate as she scoot over in the seat, watching his grin widen before he was dipping his head down and kissing her senseless. She gasped at the unexpected taste of his lips pressing hers but didn’t move to stop him, drinking him in and getting as much from this moment as she could before she’d have to return to the job.
He didn’t give her time to focus on the house again when his kisses were moving down her neck while his hand slid up over her knee, over her thigh and then delved into the rising heat between her legs. She gasped but he kept moving, his lips sliding down over her collar bone and tracing the dip in her blouse as his fingers teased her through her slacks. Her eyes were barely open when she felt him smiling wickedly against her skin. "Keep your eyes on the house, Nik..."
"Oh, you bastard," she exhaled, swallowing hard as she struggled to see even as she moved her hips into his touch. Christ, she needed this but they were working! Why in the hell had she moved closer when he asked her? She should have known better. "Ian," she breathed when he pressed a little harder against her heat. God, that felt good.
"I'm not nearly the bastard I want to be, but it'd be harder for us to chase after the bad guys if you were mostly naked, wouldn't it?" he whispered through lips that never left her skin. His other hand was moving to caress her breast before he whispered, “Is that starting to feel better, baby?"
She was fighting to keep her eyes open as he kept touching her, making her hotter for him while simultaneously bringing her closer to the relief she craved. Those fingers... those fingers that knew just how to tease a trigger certainly knew how to tease her too. The only thing she wanted more than his touch right now was the feel of him inside her. But, she'd take what she could get. "Yes... yes, Ian," she finally gasped in answer to his question as her body involuntarily arched into his touch, both at her breast and her heat.
She felt more than heard his moan as she moved into him and took even more satisfaction from the situation, knowing he was enjoying himself as he pleased her. "I want you," she heard him rasp through ragged breaths.
“I want you too, Ian... god, I want you," she gasped, her one hand clutching at his wrist where he touched her between her legs and her other hand burying itself in his hair.
She was trying to breathe, trying to open her eyes. And as she managed to move her eyes to half slits, she saw movement.
"Shit... Ian," she sighed, not wanting to do anything to keep him from touching her but knowing they had a job to do. "They're... they're on the move."
"Of course they are," he muttered under his breath, ceasing his teasing as he finally focused his gaze forward.
In mere seconds, both were back to business even though they were still breathing heavy... and damned if that wasn’t turning each of them on more for the other. But, she’d have to wait. At least the suspects were on the move. This meant she and Ian were a step closer to catching them and when this was over, she’d be able to have him exactly how she wanted him.
Nikki tried to straighten her blouse as she moved away from Ian, focusing her attention on the three man team moving... on foot? Wasn't that curious, she thought and fought a little harder to focus with her chest still heaving. “Please let us catch these bastards. Let us catch them so Ian can finish what he started,” she thought and turned to give him a knowing smile.
Nikki knew from the smile Ian returned to her that he was thinking exactly the same thing she was. That would motivate the both of them to get the job done and to do it right so they’d have no other distractions to keep them from each other. She started to move without another word before he took hold of her arm.
"I mean to finish what I started, Betancourt,” he spoke into the darkness and his tone left no room for doubt. “And then I plan to do it again and again until you're too exhausted to go on."
“I hope you plan on taking some vacation time then because that could take a while," she grinned, her wits more about her now as she looked back at him.
"I haven’t taken a vacation day in years. Looks like I’ve finally got a reason to use a few,” he smiled back. “Now let's go catch these bastards. Just be careful, Nik. You know it turns me on when you kick some ass. I might have to drag you into the woods and rip those clothes right off you."
"That’s not really a convincing argument now is it?" she teased with a wink, moving to steal a quick kiss filled with promise before she got out of the car and started down the road after the suspects, knowing Ian wouldn't be far behind.
