How many people are living the lives they want to live? As a person they want to be? How many people are even aware of themselves and their values and ideals? So how can we say we hold a value or ideal close to us, say that we believe in it so, say that we are just that and then don't show that through our actions and the way we carry ourselves? I want to live a life with substance and not be carried by the currents.
Stand firm. Believe in it.
Everybody wants it, I think. It's just a matter of getting to it. Some cases ... a person doesn't bother with it. They just take things as they come and enjoy the ride as it takes them along the tracks. Other times ... a person will recognize their faults and their errors, remember their values, and then let it all go with disregard for improvement. It's when we actively look inside ourselves and in our conscience that we do change. To hold ourselves to what we believe in--those values that we're raised with.
If we keep these ideals and hold them with such esteem, why don't we strive to embody them? Isn't that the best way to tell the world that THAT is what you are and what you love?

And thus ... It's time to let go of shame and turn it into motivation to improve.
