my life in Xela

What I wrote to Geoff...

I switched host families, and now I am living with a very nice woman who feeds me very well. This morning for breakfast I ate three panqueques and bananna and papaya and had tea. There was even maple syrup.

I have a nice room with no mold, and not a single bed bug! So I am doing well.

I also switched my teacher, and am doing much better with my spanish as of now. I am a better verbal learner.

Guatemala is nice. So far I have visited some hot springs, and spent this past weekend at a beach called Chimperico. It is hot a humid at the beach, much like Florida in the summer. It was like a flashback, palm trees and a sticky salty feeling all over your body. Too hot for sheets on your bed kinda weather.

We drank beer on the beach at sunset. We drank rum on the rooftop of our motel and went for a late night swim in the ocean. We all woke up at 7am to go swimming and stretch on the beach before catching our bus back to Xela on Sunday. It was a good weekend off from school.

II will not be fluent in spanish next time I see you, but I hope to practice with you someday.
