So my brain is pretty much all fandom, all the time these days. I'm into Inception like crazy (reeeally need to see it again, you guys, even though I saw it last night), plus still Doctor Who and now Sherlock as well. And White Collar and Merlin! And Community! How is my brain even keeping up?
I'm working on an Inception fic right now. I'm hoping to get it done quickly, but I'm still having trouble wrapping my head around some of the concepts. There may have to be some writerly handwaving... but hey, they did that in the movie too!
Also,
accordingtomel asked people to explain the appeal of Arthur/Eames, and I rambled on for a while, so I felt all that thought should go into an LJ post.
I think I can understand how some people don't see [Arthur/Eames], because with so much focus on Cobb and Mal, none of the other characters (save Ariadne, a little bit) got much in the way of character development.
That being said, I do ship it so hard. My slash goggles are super-sensitive, of course, but the chemistry was there in a big way for me. The way that Cobb brings up Eames the first time and Arthur 1) knows where he is despite them obviously not working together recently & 2) gets all defensive, suggesting "there's plenty of good thieves." It screamed of a history to me, and like I said, the slash goggles automatically kicked in. And then Eames! Okay, Eames is my favorite, and I'm sure that has something to do with it. But as soon as he hears Arthur's name he perks up with a response, calling him a "stick in the mud" with "no imagination." And maybe it's because my first OTP was Ron/Hermione from Harry Potter, but good bickering always screams chemistry to me. And they have excellent bickering, even if we don't get nearly enough glimpses of it (<- a fangirl's opinion). Clearly they've had some interesting interactions in the past. Of course, your mileage may vary on what kind of past that is.
And now I'm going to ramble for a while about bickering and UST. Apologies if this goes on for a while...
Like I said, Ron/Hermione was my first real fannish pairing, and they do a whole lot of adorable bickering. Of course, they're also young so it makes sense for it to be (at least partially) a sign of feelings they are trying to ignore. And I also see banter as a kind of challenge, with both parties trying to get one-up on the other, which just motivates them to do better / be more intelligent / impress the other. I think Arthur & Merlin have that to an extent, definitely Neal & Peter from White Collar, Holmes & Watson... With Arthur & Eames, it's definitely a challenge to do better, and I imagine their exchange as Arthur sets them all up in the hotel ("And I will lead them on a merry chase" / "Just be back before the kick" / "Go to sleep, Mr. Eames") to stick with Arthur the whole time he's got to get back. He has 2 minutes after missing the first kick to come up with a solution without the benefit of gravity... and again, maybe it's just me, but I see part of his motivation as not giving Eames the benefit of being right. (Also, I'd like to point out that Arthur clearly has plenty of imagination, if he's able to come up with that brilliance in 2 minutes, all while floating around and defeating security guards...)
The movie is clearly not focused on pairings (except of course for Cobb & Mal), and I'm fairly sure the fandom that exploded into existence is primarily a result of the amazing, intricate world. The possibilities in fic are literally endless, so I think we've all picked whichever pairing suits us best just so we can have a go at deciphering the universe for ourselves.
And so ended my comment, but really I can only speak for myself. I'm curious, though, since so many others of you also ship it - what is it about these characters that makes you ship them? And if you have other Inception pairings, same question! I haven't spent much time around
inception_kink yet, so all I've really read is Arthur/Eames fic. I'm open to others though. :D

Hey, remember that Doctor Who meme I abandoned? Let's continue that.
30 Days of Doctor Who
Day 01 - Your favorite quoteDay 02 - Your favorite classic series storyDay 03 - Your favorite new series story Day 04 - Your favorite Doctor
Okay, so it's a tough decision, and I love Nine so very much, but Eleven is my favorite Doctor. I love everything he chooses to be.

Ask me my Fannish Top Five [Whatevers]. Any top fives. Doesn't matter what, really! And I will answer them all in a new post. Possibly with pictures.
Ask as many as you want. I'm a sucker for this meme. They can be things that require fic-ish responses, too! And crossovers! And stuff! Give me an excuse to go through my tons of fandoms and pick out favorite [whatever]s! Did I mention I love this meme? :D?
