Oh, man. This could apply to the whole cast in some way, but if you want to go literal, this is Arthur, this is Eames, this is Mal. Fucking MAL is CRAZY BITCH all shooting Arthur and acting the jealous, jilted lover. (And you know, as much as I love Arthur/Eames, my first reaction at the movie was Arthur/Cobb, based mainly on that opening bit and both Mal and Arthur acting like they have a stake in claiming Cobb.) This is Mal who fucking TEARS Ariadne apart in that first dream of hers. This is Arthur who is badass with his badass guns blazing and Eames with his even bigger badass guns. Or, you know, you could just figure it all into an Empire Records AU with the gang all singing along just like they do in the movie. Hahahaha, who gets to be Rex Manning?

Come on, it already has Leo, maybe Cobb is hired to extract shit from Costigan, resulting in lots of mind fuckery and in Eames hitting on Dignam, since he'd of course be Costigan's undercover, surly but hot as anything security, resulting in Arthur getting all sorts of pissy and hooking up with Sullivan just the once to piss off Eames. And Yusuf could be working for Costello, being that he's a chemist and all, working with him and Saito and Ariadne, I dunno, maybe she takes the place of Madolyn, and actually gets to fuck Cobb, or Costigan, who cares. Mal...Mal is the mole, working for both teams and shit. I want this now. SO HARD.
Smooth Operator - Sade
What's weird is this is on my Arthur/Eames playlist/fanmix. It's Eames. First time I heard it after I saw the movie (which was soon after, I love Sade) I immediately thought of Eames. He's a forger, he can morph into anyone and presumably anything, the ultimate smooth operator. And I like to think of Arthur walking into the warehouse humming it after a night spent with Eames, maybe he doesn't know he's doing it, maybe Eames finds it ridiculously endearing and pins him to the desk or the wall when no one is looking...
Symphony #5 - Beethoven
Come on. Arthur would so fuck, or possibly fight, to this song. Preferably Eames, in the fighting or fucking. Or, you know, just picture him in his designer three pieces with a glass of 98 point red, maybe a burgundy, something lush and rich, unwinding with his sleeves crisply rolled up and his tie loosened, maybe advancing on Eames who can't resist him like that...
Girl Anachronism - Dresden Dolls
Holy fuck. Mal, again. Imagine she didn't jump, she's in a mental ward somewhere and god damn it she could have written that song. Sure, Mal doesn't seem the Amanda Palmer type, but I bet Ariadne is, maybe it would infiltrate its way into Cobb's dreams and he could see Mal trying to rip off her own god damn skin or carve the words right into her own skin.
The Man Who Sold the World - David Bowie
Another one from my Inception playlist. This'd be Dom Cobb, wouldn't it? He reminds me of the ultimate salesman, the man who can sell plain old text to the blind and music to the deaf, you know? I can picture Dom sitting in his room at night, listening to this song, maybe looking up at his faded old Bowie poster on the wall, on that verge of realizing he might be something special, you know?

Holy shit. Come on, this song is ABOUT their profession. It's all lies, the dream, the forge, the landscape. Damn it someone go make me a fanvid to this song. How can you NOT think of Fischer, and all the lies he starts to believe in his dream?
Boom Boom Pow - Black Eyes Peas
This would also make a great song to fanvid Inception to, it's got that sort of futuristic, dream-like vibe to it. I read a fic that had Arthur drunk off his ass, grinding up against Eames on a crowded dance floor to a little Black Eyed Peas. That works too.
