13 Days of Halloween: Day Six ~Luis Royo~

I don't know much about art, I just know what I like, and what I like tends to be darker, more gothic looking stuff. Luis Royo and his fantastical, beautiful and kick ass women turn me on. I find them sensual and so pleasing to the eye that I just want to stare at his work for hours on end.

His work is gorgeous.

I also have a soft spot for Frank Frazetta, the "grandfather" of this particular school of art. As a little kid I found some of Frazetta's work in the public library and thought it was so cool that his women actually had "real" hips and thighs.

It's Frazetta's work that Bakshi turned in to Fire and Ice in the early 80s.

The piece of Frank Franzetta's I remember the most is the dark centaur with the ivory woman riding him. I love that piece, and it's definitely where Royo took some of his inspiration. I just think it's so beautiful to look at, and many times I've found myself at the book store, perusing his stuff for hours on end :)

YES! That's the one! There is so much I love about it, and that style/genre in general. The gorgeous, curvy woman with the beast, the colors, the way it sort of takes myth and sexes it up.

Thanks for finding that for me! *saves*

Always happy to service you... Erm... Yeah. *eg*

I like the way his women are... idealized, but not, if you know what I mean.
