Busy Bee Watch The World Go By

Wow. I have a lot of catching up to do here, don't I? I'll break it down into sections.

Marketing Job
The last two weeks were total and utter murder! The Son thought that he would throw everything at me to try and eliminate his workload as much as possible. He was still trying to palm off follow up stuff for future endeavours onto me. I told him that I was leaving, so he's just going to have to sort it out. The realisation cogs started clicking into place towards the end of how much work he actually has to do now that I am not there to do it for him. I became more and more unsympathetic towards him as the time came to a close. He was becoming so damn rude and had a whole "how dare you" tone to everything. He saw my employment as being this huge favour he'd done for me and that I was being a selfish prat for not being grateful. I was very good and didn't tell him to go fuck himself. I was very bad and left him with a heap of horrible jobs to finish.

The biggest shock came from The Father. He actually put in an apology in my going away card. I nearly fell over! The girls were very nice and gave me a 1L bottle of Kahlua as a going away pressie.

Birthday
I had a very quiet one this year. I went to a Chinese restaurant at Chapel Street with 5 friends. The food and atmosphere were fantastic! I will definitely go there again. The food was yum cha style and there was a big variety. Handy to cater to everyone's tastes. Other than that, it was just another day really.

Poisoning The Troups

djp felt I needed to branch out my cooking skills to not be limited to throwing things in the microwave and actually cooking stuff. Coffee Boy and him were going to come over to my place,
djp was going to show me how to cook stuff and we would eat it. This was fine, except that I have nowhere to seat people for a meal.

I took the opportunity to get myself a little dining table and some chairs. I just got a cheap, 4 seat setting from Ikea, but it was still colour co-ordinated with the rest of my things. Whoever thought assembling furniture with bolts requiring allen keys was a good idea, needs to be shot! I hate it! There is always something that doesn’t quite fit or is slightly off centre. GRR. With some patience from
djp and a hissy fit from me, I now have a dining setting.

The food turned out ok. I don’t know about the others, but I didn’t have any bad side effects, so it was reasonable successful. I am a very frustrated cook though. It is kind of why I don’t do it very often. I can actually cook some stuff, I just don’t like cooking. All that prep work and stirring and waiting … I just can’t be bothered! We’ll see. I can use the table as extra prep room now, so maybe I might make more of an effort. Don’t hold your breath though or you’ll turn blue.

New Job - Property Development Company
I started my new job today. I can tell I am going to LOVE it there. The staff are a laid back bunch of guys and I get to bring out my sarcasm, tom boyishness and natural personality. I forgot how much I missed a more "blokey" environment. I am falling into the role very easily already and scaring them a little with how much I know about general things. They expected they would have to train me a lot more on specific topics or explain things better. I have worked in property management and the building industry before, so I know most of the terms.

There was a receptionist there when I went to the interview that I was told I would be supervising. I was thinking that I would have to do some work on her, because she was lacking in the way she presented herself. Turns out she has now left the company and they are hiring a new one that I get to mould from scratch. I personally like that idea. Trouble is that I am doing a bit of relief reception. It has been a bit of a time warp for me considering I haven't done reception in years. It helps me get to know who handles what though.

I asked about the closing two weeks over Christmas thing and they said that I can work them if I want. Most of the staff go away, but they have a skeleton staff there. So I FINALLY can have all my holidays to do with as I please and not have to leave two weeks spare because I have to use them at Christmas. YAY! The only bummer is that it is fortnightly pay and pay week was last week. I got a big payout of my accrued holidays from the other job, so I will get through without a problem.
