This sounds like what my old callcenter job was like when it was still a cool place to work.

Unfortunately, it's degraded into corporate stupidity now, but c'est la vie.

I worked for CoreComm/ATX Communications. They were big, but you probably never heard of them.

I cannot say I've heard of them. For shame.

At one point, they were the 10th largest ISP in the US, but they achieved that mostly by buying up mom and pop ISPs and leaving their names intact, which is why I said that. We had about 50 brand names.
