No longer in remission

I'm being treated for sarcoma at the sarcoma center at U of M. I've been in remission since the spring. Actually, there had been no growth on the scans since January, but I had chemo through Feb.

Check ups every three months since then have been great.

This time the check-up was not very good.

Two of the tumors, the original one in the soass muscle, and one near the bowel have been growing again. There is a lymph node that is enlarged-not quite large enough to be sure has a tumor, but still worrisome.

I start a clinical trial on Monday Oral chemo, two pills twice a day. The medication is supposed to stop blood supply to the tumors, thus starving them. It's targeted chemo, so it has fewer side effect than traditonal chemo. Click here for info on the study.

The trial has been going on since April. There have been some tumors that have shrunk as a result, but more that have stopped growing. And since I am not having any symptoms of the cancer now, not growing would be good.

I was lucky, I guess, in that this trial only had one spot open for my type of sarcoma.

I need prayers. Both that this will work, and that I'll have the strength to go through this all again.
