Every New Beginning Comes From Some Other Beginning's End

Okay, I really don't have too much time to post, because I've been skillfully putting off my Calculus review all day. But, so much has happened in the last week that I really can't hold off writing any more. I'll number things so I don't ramble.

1. There's about 1 month left until I graduate. Actually, about a month and 10 days. My head's still spinning just from thinking about everything I'll have to do and that will happen before then: AP exams, Prom, homework, my Independent Study, etc. Thinking about everything coming to an end  is simultaneously scary, overwhelming, and exciting. Jeez, I have no idea how I'm possibly going to get through the month of May. To be perfectly honest, my entire work ethic seems to have abandoned me, so even the simple prospect of going to work on Calculus is killing me.

2. Speaking of endings.....Friday was my last ever Science Olympiad competition. Wow, writing those words was quite intense. Unfortunately, my last event was nothing glorious; I did Fermi Questions with John and we got murdered by the test. But I got to do Remote Sensing and Write It - Do It one last time, the latter was especially nice for me because I've been doing that event since 8th grade. I actually thought we would have a chance at medaling, since John was the first one out of our room, but all the school's that medaled in that were random, which basically tells you that something funky was going on there. The whole day was very nice, but to be perfectly honest, the time went by in the blink of an eye. It seems like I woke up on Friday morning at 6 and ten minutes later we were home.

And there were some pleasant surprises. Yuxi and Meng got 5th in Cell Bio. Jeremy and Sophie got third in Rocks, although that doesn't actually count as a surprise. And John and Jack got 1st place in Physics Lab!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG SHHS got a gold medal at states.

Oooops, I almost forgot about myself (jk) Alex and I got 5th in Remote Sensing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was hopefully because the test went well, but I didn't dare hope because states' is so hard. I've woken up the past two mornings with the medal next to me in my bed, and I can't tell you hard I smile when I feel it in my hand. I honestly couldn't have asked for anything more, I was totally content to close my senior year with the medal I got at regional. This was just an extra scoop of ice cream. I had more than I could have asked for, and yet....

There's more. We got 8th overall!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! After (shockingly) placing 14th last year, our first year at states, we were only hoping to make top ten. After all, PA SO is the second hardest state in the country. But they called us for 8th, and you have no idea how much screaming we did.

In the end, I ended up hugging everyone like a million times. Ms. Gottlieb, my middle school coach, told me how proud of me she was, which really made me want to cry. Monica congratulated me on a great Science Olympiad career, and at least 10 people said they would fly me back from Chicago next year to save them. I was so happy and so sad at the same time.

3. Well, I have one more thing to talk about. And that is Twilight. And New Moon and Eclipse. A week ago today, I started reading Twilight and I just finished Eclispe last night. I acutally wanted to post about the books earlier this week, but I actually held off because I was afraid that I wouldn't be able to possibly express what I'm feeling. So I guess I'll try now and start by quoting Luke from Gilmore Girls: "I'm in. I'm all in."
It would be the ultimate impossibility for me to write anything that in anyway comprehended all of my thoughts right now, but I'll just say a few things right now.

I love vampires!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Twilight was perfection. New Moon was a different kind of perfection, heartwrenching but very much suited to me. And once S. Meyer started quoting Romeo and Juliet, she had me for life. Eclipse was good, but I got seriously frustrated with the love triangle, which brings me to....
I HATE JACOB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was so sad when he didn't die. But the damage was kind of already done. Gahhhhhhhhhhhhhh! At least S. Meyer said Bella's decision was permanent.
If S. Meyer doesn't change Bella in the next book, I'm going to go to Phoenix and give her a very loud piece of my mind. And that just shows you how devoted I am, that I'm willing to go to Phoenix, because I hate the heat.
If there isn't a happy ending, see above.
I'm soooooooooooooooooooo excited for the movie and for having the chance to go to another midnight book party!
I heart Jasper/Alice. And I really want on Jasper. Seriously, I have a thing for ex-Confederate vampires.
I've been having a terrible time thinking about anything else this week, its actually scary how distracting this stuff is. So, in short, I'm on the bandwagon, big time. And, in about 20 minutes, my LJ is going to reflect that.
I'm sure I'll have to say about this later, lots more, but for now, I bid you sweet dreams of your Cullen of choice....

senior year, school, science olympiad, twilight, movies, books
