Whew! Another 10 day foray to DC land.

Just returned today from another long, 10 day DC jaunt. This one was remarkably productive work-wise, but I won't bore you with the arcane news of the massive transformation in running facilities engineering for the Navy. But, if you're into it, trust me, it's cool.

Took the road bike down there, and did a 50 miler on Saturday (definitely not in the hail, though, pmb), over Weather Mountain. There is an actual 6 mile uphill which is first gear stand up 90% of the way. Really remarkably steep. Secret: don't attack, just get in the groove early and keep going at a steady pace. The downhill is, however, awesome. Got up to 45 mph.

Then on Sunday, went out for a 30 miler, just out 15 and back 15 on the W&OD Trail. It's a great escape valve from Arlington. Cool observation: what I used to think of as hills on the W&OD, aren't.

Great to be back in the north country, though. Looks like rain for the next week. You Eugenios would feel right at home.
