I get where you are coming from.

I have a totally big fat writer's block right now. I don't feel pressured to write, mind you, since I don't think that many people read my stuff anyways, but I do feel kind of sad that any passion for me to write fanfiction has pretty much died out. Words and plot used to flow out so quickly onto the page and now it's just like I can't write anything without having to force it out. I can't even read other fanfics unless they're humour. (I loved your driving one btw) It's because I set a standard for others the way I set a standard for myself, I sort of sit there and go "oh there's a typo" and "meh, that characterization is off" or "I don't like the way that is phrased" as if it was my own work and I see the flaws easily. I kind of wish I never started writing fanfic in the first place because it ruins my ability to read fanfic.

I also tend to start a lot of fics and then banish them to my external hard drive. Though I like writing them when I first get the plot bunny, I always lose interest or I hate it the next day. The other scenario is that I write something that starts out as fanfic, but I end up making it original fiction. I find that I tend to like my original stuff a lot more than my fanfics. Unfortunately, my English teacher pretty much drilled into me that all writing serves a purpose of conveying some sort of philosophical theme, and that's what I like to write the most.

So in terms of getting rid of writer's block...I guess just write OF or not write at all for a while.

I also quite like your journal, I'm going to friend you, so I hope you don't mind. =)

I hate it too. Writing fanfiction has totally screwed up my original fics and it's only been recently that I was able to write it again. I want to ease out of it so I don't write just fanfiction; I have a grandiose dream of having others read my crap too THROUGHOUT THE WORLD. So I'm trying to get people to read my original.

Thanks! I'm glad you find my ramblings interesting.

Same here...I always had a dream of writing something inspirational. The good thing about OF is that you can always control a character's characterization the way you want it. Maybe I'll tackle it some day. ^^

I definitely hope you will too! I loved your writing on FF.net.
