you know that your vacation is over, and that it's about time to go back to school when you start having dreams about your kids misbehaving in class, your principal criticizing every peice of student work you have on your wall and in your classroom.
you know that your vacation is over when you wake up frustrated and a little down because you realize all the tests you have to grade and the tests you have to create for the upcoming week.
you know that your vacation is over when you start thinking about the carpool you'll now be taking, and how you'll have to change your entire schedule to fit the fact that you'll be getting to school at least 30min than before and leaving right after school.
you know that your vacation is over when you start thinking about how to pay for the dentist (because your sucky ass health insurance doesn't give you dental) and the eye doctor (because your sucky ass health insurance doesn't give you that either) or doing your taxes.
i have to say, i am very fortunate that
a)my parents live so close to where i work.
b) they let me move home for a few months (for free)because my roomates sucked and i had to move out.
c) there is another teacher who lives less than 5 minutes from me and will drive me to and from work.
of course, there are pluses and minuses to living at home. i really do feel like a guest in this house, though i've made marvelous strides to making my room actually my room. But i don't like the fact that i no longer have a TV in my room, that I have to be super quiet at night because i don't want to wake my parents up and that i'm yet again basically stranded in this little town because i don't have a car (except when i can use my mom's because she's at work).
that's the other thing, i don't like moving home because i run the risk of bumping into people from high school who i really don't want to have to say hi to and pretend i like them. But, at least i don't have to deal with mice, roaches, sucky roomates, and a jerk of a landlord...oh, and electric, cable and rent bills.
