really don't blog or write my thoughts down for the official record much as I used to in the past. Call it being extremely busy or no motivation for writing most times, which is ridiculous since writing is a big part of my life. A few years ago during this time of year, New Years Eve to be exact; I would reflect and recap my year with all the highlights. That's when I used to write daily and actually had a record of those moments. Earlier this week I said to myself that I would re-introduce this. But more of a thought of reflection than an actual re-cap. We shall see. I've been thinking hard last few days about what I want to write about as the minutes tick down to 2009 and there's SO much that I want to include without boring those who will be reading this so it begins. I warn you now it might be long.
I can honestly say that 2008 was a good year and I liked it. Granted I had my shares of ups and downs and challenges including right now. I am thankful to God for allowing me to see this year and pray to see 2009 and beyond.
2008 The Key Highlights
Jenn and I celebrated our 2nd anniversary January 6. Our 3rd is quickly approaching on Tuesday. I can't believe that I've known her for almost 5 years. Sweetie you mean more than you can imagine seriously! and you keep it real. I Love You.
January 7th -- I started working as a freelance production associate/video editor for the ABC News Medical Unit in Needham, Mass (No NOT NewsCenter5). One full year holding down a semi-full time job after college - definitely thankful for that and the 'experience' that has been added under my belt. For as long as I could remember I wanted to work for ABC News. I'm glad I was given the opportunity to join the Med Unit/OnCall+ staff. The first three months there were EXTREMLY challenging as I transitioned to something new and sometimes lacked transportation to and from Needham from Nashua. Yeah leaving home at 4am and coming home at 10pm Monday through Friday was not fun. I'll get to that in a moment. Although now I'm only on PT status it has its challenging days, and I enjoy working with my immediate colleagues. They work their tails off from before sunrise to past sunset, and the quality of the work that appears on all platforms shows it.
In March with the help of my mom I purchased my second car - it was my first purchase as the first car was lil POS that was given as a graduation present which slowly stated to die in January/February with the various oil leaks and electrical shorts. It was by chance I found this car.
In May Jenn graduated from Keene State College with her B.F.A. in Graphic Design and B.S. in Business Management. I was so relieved for that day when she walked across that stage but I know she was more relieved that I was and her parents too. She was worked above and beyond for that. I can't even explain how she pulled that off in 4 years ( I mean I can…but I can't ). She's good that like that. I give her credit for working so hard at school and then working outside of school. The only thing right now is that she's having the hardest time finding a job in her field. My wish for her in 2009 is that she finds that kick ass graphic design job as her first job out of school.
I lost a close friend that month as well Aline Dodge,23, passed away. Had classes with her since the 7th grade the last time I saw her was in October of 2007 but I tried best to keep in touch via AIM and txt. I kicked myself for not visiting often especially that day I got the call b/c the week prior I said I would go visit. Ali I miss you daily you are an inspiration all who you've crossed paths with. Until we meet again.
My sister, Nathacha Audrey, got accepted to UVM and graduated from High School. I am very proud of ALL your accomplishments Tash. Especially in your first semester. It seemed like yesterday you'd come running down the hall and say "Ronnnyyy" to give a hug when I came home from school. I've gotten used to you calling me Ronito and MamaDo and those random dances you do when reggae/soca music plays on the radio. You're another person that keeps it real as well. Thanks Sis.
This was a BIG traveling year for me. I went to Chicago, NYC, NJ, PA, CT, VT, ME, FL Montreal(once by myself!) In October, I traveled to Port-Au-Prince, Haiti for a few of days on very short notice. When I was there I had a chance to re-connect with family. I plan on returning soon. Oh and let's not forget the big cruise Jenn and I went on in December (Grand Cayman, Dominican Rep). Wicked Fun!
I've had some big challenges placed in front of me this year as well. Some that I'm fighting now some are finances. I have this big debt from school and out of pocket medical expenses. This year was also the start of a storm which I know will rollover to next year. I've prayed deeply about these challenges and will face them head on in 2009.
So there you have it my KEY highlights from this past year. I won't bore you with additional content. I had one major resolution this year - better keep in touch with people and to let grudges go. I tried my best to do that. I've even had the chance to re-connect with folks I hadn't heard from in YEARS from Quebec, Otttawa and all those other random places.(gotta thank facebook!) I'm rolling that resolution will rollover into 2009.
It is my wish to all of you in 2009 for the following: Be thankful and humble for what you have in your life as you never know what can happen to you. I pray that 2009 will be a safe and joy for all. Whatever happened in 2008 let it stay there --- it's so 2008.
Keep Moving Forward It's a New Year
Best Wishes
Rony
