It's not you guys, it's me. I just don't internet anymore, apparently. Or only in very limited bits when I do. Yesterday I gave up and marked roughly 200 items in my old reader as read, just because I knew I'd never get around to actually reading them/having to try to read them would make me feel a bit panicky. I had to skip 120 entries to find the last one I read here on LJ, and that one was posted on the 17th. Ugggghh.
I have been doing stuff, clearly. Lots of stuff, if that wasn't abundantly obvious, including: Lynn's wedding (Oct. 19th), going to Ajax for Joanna's birthday (Oct. 20th), my work knitting group, regular knitting group, taking my car in to get serviced (Saturday), going to a yarn tasting followed by a Halloween party (yesterday), and knitting my ass off in an effort to finish the damn cardigan by this upcoming weekend (still not there yet). I know there's been plenty of other stuff in there, and work's gotten super busy all of a sudden too, but basically, I just feel like I have next to no downtime lately, and internet time is the first thing to go when I get busy. It's really not just you; I have hardly done any reading at all lately either, and that's saying something considering I'm on book 2 of a series I'm really enjoying.
But Lynn's wedding was pretty much the most fun wedding I have ever been to. She and Andrew made custom Lego people as favors for each of their guests, and the girls and I had way too much fun with them throughout the reception, as you can see
here. It was amazing, and I loved every minute of their wedding.
I was worried about taking my car in for an oil change last weekend, because I knew it had been way longer than recommended since my last one, and I was afraid there was going to be all kinds of other stuff wrong with it. However, besides needing a new air filter and having to pay a little bit more for the wiper blades because they're a weird size, everything was pretty much fine. Oh, except for the minor little detail that I need new tires. *headdesk* Uggggggghhhhhh. The mechanic showed me my tires and the little gauge they use to measure the tread and how mine is lower than the recommended limit and told me that I need to get new tires before winter. Efffff. This is not the worst thing in the world, because next month I'm going to have a bit of extra money, thanks to November being a magical three-paycheck month instead of the usual two. However, I was hoping to be able to use some of that money for fun things, including maybe actually going to Jersey since I haven't been back in two years, soooo it kind of sucks. Obviously, tires are critically important, so the money will go to that first, and if I can find a good enough deal on them, maybe there will still be enough leftover for me to go to the States. There's always something, huh?
In less expensive news, I'm done the body of my cardigan and maybe a little less than halfway done the first sleeve. I probably should have taken another progress picture when I finished the body, but that would have meant stopping knitting long enough to do that, and I am in power knitting mode, so no pictures. I am quite certain I'll at least have the one sleeve done by Friday, but the second one is looking pretty doubtful. It also won't be the worst thing ever if I finish the second sleeve at the cottage, though I did want it done before we got there. Either way, it'll get done this weekend and then I'll be able to wear it all winter, and that's what really matters. Plus, I'm hoping to get some gorgeous finished object photos of it at the cottage. :D
This week will likely be just as crazy as the last two have been, so I expect I'll still be scarce around here for awhile. Today I've got to stop at Target after work to pick up a couple things, and then I think it's my night to make dinner. Tomorrow I've got my work knitting group, then I have to stop at the library to pick up a book that's on hold, so I won't be getting home till after 6. Wednesday is my mentoring day at work, though I think I might be free that evening. But Thursday will be a combination of handing out Halloween candy to trick-or-treaters and packing the ridiculous assortment of things I'm going to need for the cottage. And then I will be at the cottage Friday-Sunday, and I'm strongly leaning toward not bringing my laptop, because I'm not going to want to be on it when there are friends and food and knitting and COTTAGE around to enjoy. I will eventually read all of the entries I've missed, so bear with me and I promise I haven't forgotten you all.
Now, off to the next thing!
