Good morning, LJ friends! I'm up bright and early, so I figured now's a good time for a post. Actually I've been up since about 7:15 this morning, so I've already showered and had breakfast, because the original plan was that I was going to give Becca a ride down to the border so she could sort out her work permit with immigration and we were going to leave around 9:30 or 10. But she emailed me late last night after I'd already gone to bed, asking if we could leave around noon instead, so now I am up with several hours to kill and here I am. To be fair, I didn't set an alarm to get up that early; I've just been waking up that early for probably the last week or so. I've been trying to go to bed earlier so that I'll be used to it when I go back to work on Tuesday (aaah!), and I've just been waking up around 7 or 7:30 as a result. This will make it a whole lot easier to deal with having to get up at 6:45, I hope.
So let's see, what fun things do I have to tell you? I have definitely gotten a lot of both reading and knitting accomplished this summer. I've read 8 complete books, started another, and am in the middle of a textbook on cyberpsychology. You know, for fun. :p The book that I've started is A Game of Thrones, and I think I'm a bit over 100 pages into it so far. I'm hoping to make a pretty good dent in it tomorrow and Monday, before my reading time becomes significantly limited again. In terms of knitting, I finished a scarf and socks (both projects that were started before the summer), made a hand towel and a cat toy, started (and got about 1/3 of the way through) a cardigan (it's currently on pause while I wait for my last skein of yarn to come in), and made a pair of mittens for my sister. Also about to start a cowl for
anachronism. Not bad for two months! :)
Since my last entry, I went to my first ever bachelorette party! (I'm not counting my own, in which we just went to Snakes & Lattes and played board games all evening (which I totally loved, don't get me wrong; it just doesn't fit the standard definition of a bachelorette party).) Erin is getting married in a week, so her friends/bridesmaids organized a party last weekend. It mostly involved hanging out at the hostess' house drinking, snacking, chatting, listening to music that was big when we were in middle and high school, laughing at the penis decorations and being alternately amused and horrified by etiquette books from the 60s and 70s. In other words, it was a pretty good evening! The organizers had chosen a few locations that Erin could pick from to go out to, but they didn't end up heading out anywhere till almost midnight, which was when I'd planned to head home since I didn't want to be stranded by Toronto's stupid transit that shuts down at like 1 or 1:30 am. It was a good time, and I think Erin really enjoyed herself, so that's the important thing.
The bachelorette ready to party!
Me and Ilana, looking adorable as always. :)
Kara and Erin hanging out.
It's funnier to let this picture stand with Erin holding two drinks at one time, rather than tell you that I insisted she hold both of them for the picture, haha.
I wanted to wear the awesome butterfly glasses. Can you blame me?!
Me and Meghan.
Ilana's turn to wear the glasses.
And finally, one of me and the soon-to-be-bride. :)
Not a whole lot else to tell you, I don't think. Work starts on Tuesday, and I'm slowly coming around to being okay with that idea. Well, really, it's going to happen whether I'm okay with it or not, so I may as well try to be happy about it. All right, since I can't think of anything else to tell you guys, I'm going to go read/knit some more until it's time for me to leave to pick Becca up. Hope you're all enjoying your long weekends!
