Well, I survived the crazy week. Buuuuut now I'm sick. :( Started feeling really tired by around 10:30 last night at the board game group, but just figured that was because I'd been up since 6:30 and had been running around all day (and all week). Noticed a bit of a sore throat starting on the subway back home, and it hurt to talk when I came in and said goodnight to Brad, but I just went right to bed and figured I'd be fine when I woke up. No. Woke up feeling like death. Achy all over, head full of snot/pressure, zero energy . . . it's delightful. And on top of that it's snowing AGAIN, which means that I'm pretty much not going to get done anything that I had planned for today. Blahhhhh.
I do have to babysit for a few hours tonight, but I'm planning on just laying on the couch resting until then, so hopefully I'll be all right. And these kids are old enough that they don't really need much from me; usually I make them dinner while I'm there, and then they entertain themselves, so I shouldn't have to expend too much energy. I hope the roads are cleared by the time I head out, though; seriously, I am so sick of driving on snowy/unplowed roads. It's probably a bad thing that I'm already feeling tired of and done with snow/really cold weather, and it's only mid-January. Stupid winter.
Anyway, so Connie's mother-in-law had a few pieces of furniture that Brad and I will be able to use, including a day bed, an arm chair, and a small filing cabinet, so I wrote her a check yesterday and Connie and I will set up a time when she and her husband can bring the stuff over for us, since we don't have a big car. The chair is kind of an ugly colour, but we can always get a cover for that, and I'm excited that we'll actually have something decent for people to sleep on when they come visit, instead of just an air mattress. And it's nice of Connie and her husband to bring the stuff over for us (we're just going to pay them for gas). The board game thing was also fun last night. I got there a little late, because it took me forever to get home after looking at the furniture, and I had to eat before I went, but it didn't seem to matter. There were very few women there so the woman who was hosting was very excited when I got there. Pretty much as soon as I walked in, a group of guys asked me if I wanted to learn how to play Stone Age, so I said sure, and it was as easy as that. They were very helpful in teaching me how to play, and even though I lost the game, I think I picked up on the basics pretty quickly. That game lasted a while, and then we played a haunted house game that was kind of cool, but by that point I was starting to feel really tired. Overall, it was a good time, and I'm glad I went. Will definitely try to go more often.
I'm pretty sure this week should be less ridiculous than the one that just passed, so that will be good. Going to a brunch group next Saturday, which should be fun and tasty! Oh, and I almost forgot the one amazing thing about today, despite me being sick and the crappy weather - Rob sent me an article that says that
Target is planning to come to Canada!!!! Seriously, that makes me SO happy. I cannot wait! When that happens, Canada will be almost completely perfect. :) Anyway, my capacity for coherent thought is decreasing rapidly, so I think it's time to end this and go back to laying on the couch like a blob for a few hours. Yes. Good plan.
