random amusing tidbits
1) Friday, I got a flier in the mail from a college, specifically addressed to me (not just to "Resident" or something). First of all, uhh, I'm done with grad school now, let alone college. Pretty sure I'm good on the formal education. But what was really special was that the flier said "A [college name] education today, combined with your military experience, will lead to the path for success tomorrow." Really now? My military experience? Thanks for making me aware of that! I had no idea I could've been listing military experience on my resume all this time! :p
2) My landlords frequently go away for a weekend or so, and ask me and Lauren to bring in their mail for them. This weekend, they did the same, except the note on the front door was addressed "Laure/Ali". Now, I've accepted that for some reason I'm Ali to my landlord(s? I know that's what the husband always called me, but I can't remember the wife addressing me specifically by name), but how do you just lose the 'n' from Lauren? Oh, people.
3) This one is probably the most hilarious. I have several postings up on craigslist right now, for my apartment, for my bed, and for a bunch of other things I'm selling. So when I was checking my mail, I noticed that one with the subject line "RE: craigslist post" had gotten sent to my spam folder. I figured it was just a mistake and opened it up. Oh, it was a mistake all right, but a hilarious one. For your amusement:
hey my name is merissa i saw your ad on cl n thought u seemd prety cool. i am 5'5 and have brown hair and eyes even though sometimes I act a blonde hehe + plus i died it blonde anyway. i like to be treated well and luv a man who can show me a wonderful time. Especially with summer here! i just moved up here around a couple weeks ago but havnt met anybody yet - mostly because I'm weery of meeting with some1 online. I have heard to many horror stories about some girl get hurt because they werent cautious about meeting up with some1 online. Anyways I did find this site that verifies your age and name that way I know you are real and not some creep. I will not meet you unless you verify yourself! [website]
The best part is that it was definitely sent to one of the craigslist sale email addresses (which would explain how I got it). Guess "merissa" isn't meeting the man of her dreams on craigslist anytime soon! :p
Oh, in other, less amusing but still awesome news, I checked the NJ certification website and they finally issued my school psych certification! So now I am not only nationally certified, but NJ certified, too! :D I just need a job to go with these nice fancy titles and certifications. :p Birthday is coming up, and I'm going to a glow-in-the-dark mini golf place with whoever can come on Saturday. Not really expecting much on my actual birthday, because I'll be working, but I do plan on bringing in cupcakes! :) Other than that . . . ONLY THREE WEEKS TILL I MOVE TO CANADA OMG! A little bit crazy, but I'm so ready to get started with the whole moving process. I think that's all I have for now. Try not to melt in this gross heat, everyone!
