Now, onto your actual post like a prom date. I would just like to comment on the section about unamericanismousness. From what I gather, keeping in mind the deal you made, you have issues with identifying yourself as an american when americanism is defined by a set of ideals that is portrayed by the government we elect. I'd like to propose an argument that the only true unamerican thing is unamericanism itself. Unamericanism actually seems like a propaganda tool of the government to gain support. Lenin did the same thing during the rise of the Bolsheviks (I just wrote a paper comparing Nazi and Bolshevik propaganda, sorry). The thing that is viewed incorrectly by most people (including americans, unfortunately) is the fact that being an american is not defined by the government, but in reality no different than being, say, french. This is something I think Bush has done a good job at, separating the government from the definition of its people, especially in the world spotlight. Just because someone has french citizenship does not mean they agree with everything the french government does. The difference is they are not label unFrench, as you pointed out. The same fact applies here, but government tools just like slap a label of unamerican on it to try to guilt you into changing your mind, no one wants to be a traitor or even labeled a traitor. I consider myself american though I disagree with roughly half of all governmental decisions.
And kudos on having your own government. ;) You can spend your exile in Sickmania if you'd like.
