Bill wasn't sure where George had suddenly appeared from - he supposed McCoy had indicated that his presence might be of some help to De - but he was very glad that he'd turned up, and glad also of the suggestion that they should all be shown how to work the various advances in technology that had occurred over the past couple of centuries.
Together, the four of them filed into the main room of the suite. Bill caught Len's eye over De's bowed head and made a face. Think this is going to help him...?
They weren't Vulcans. Len wasn't telepathic. But Bill liked to think the look Len gave him in return was one fully cognizant of what Bill was thinking; a recognition of their mutual concern for their friend.
"Well," Bill said, looking to George with an effort, "how do we work this stuff, anyway?"
