Got the happy news in my inbox from the Courage Campaign newsletter (the AFTAH one that came a little later mysteriously didn't mention it, and chose to grump about 'those evil homosexualists who're blaiming the rash of suicides on Christianity'. But that's another, more depressing, story.) (Okay, to be fair, they might've had their newsletter

(Yeah, they are a bit odd out there. It's why half the country has nick named California, 'The Land of Fruits and Nuts'. :-D Which really isn't fair, because most of California is pretty cool. I love visiting there actually it's an amazing state. That's one of the big states in the 9th Circuit.)
Ha! That sounds hilarious. Although the whole rainbow thing kind of annoys me because I love rainbows and I used to draw them on everything. However, since I'm not really into the whole gay pride thing, I don't put it on near as many things as I used to. People would draw the completely wrong conclusions about me. hehehehe. Not that I really care about what other random strangers think about me, I would just get frustrated. Plus, why did they pick a rainbow as a symbol anyway? No one has ever been able to answer that for me. Hmmm

(LOL! Land of Fruits and Nuts. Love it. xD I'm not entirely sure what the 9th Circuit is, tbh, but I have the feeling I don't really wanna bother trying to figure it out, lol.)
*g* Shame, that. I suppose so long as you include the pot of gold/make it obviously *just* a drawing of a rainbow... but yeah, I do sympathize at the inconvenience/getting frustrated.
Do you really want the whole story? Well, I'll give you the short version, as I understand it. I doubt it was ever specifically picked, but rather developed more 'organically' as it were, sort of like how in-jokes and inside lingo develops. It comes from the popularity of the Wizard of Oz (original movie) in the old gay community back then - particularly the song Somewhere Over the Rainbow has apparently been a favourite of the gay (here specifically meaning 'homosexual males') community for a long time. It became widely known/was "chosen" as a symbol in the '70s, apparently, but I'm assuming from what little I know, that it has its roots in that. I don't really know though - queer history isn't exactly well studied by anybody. :(

I freaking love that song. I mean I love the whole movie actually, but I love that song the most from it. It's so beautiful. I especially love the version by Israel Kamakawiwo Ole'. It's the song that originally aired on the TV version of Primeval when Lester gets his job back from Christine Johnson. It was also in FInding Forrester. Such a beautiful rendition and mix of two very iconic songs.

It is a nice song, that's for sure! And LOL, did it really? I think I have the TV original airing version of Primeval on my harddrive, dunno if I ever noticed that. Was probably too busy squeeing.

I had to find it on youtube. I also found the original version of the Abby/Connor kiss which was originally aired with the song "I Only Have Eyes For You". I liked that much better, even though I loved the random song they used for the DVD version.
