The Juggernaut
Anyone who knows me, tends to know that I do have a thing for super strong characters. It's no secret that I've always enjoyed He-Man, or that some of my favorite Transformers were bigger, stronger ones like Devastator, Omega Supreme, Grimlock, Trypticon, or that Sgt. Slaughter and Nemesis Enforcer are some of my favorite G.I. Joe characters of all time. And I think She-Hulk is mighty fine, but that's besides the point!
So it should not come as a surprise when I say that the Juggernaut is one of my favorite Marvel characters. Unfortunately, unlike those mentioned above, it's a bit harder trying to stay current with what is going on with the Juggernaut. Unlike cartoons, comics involve a little bit more legwork and when a character that you like is someone that doesn't really have his own on-going series, trying to stay current with them can prove to be quite the difficult thing to do.
As such, I mostly try to follow what is going on with the Juggernaut through websites or wikis and it is really sad to know how much Cain Marko has been depowered over the years to the point that he shouldn't be called unstoppable anymore. Heck, he's not even the Juggernaut anymore with his Cyttorak powers having been stripped from him.
I think it's safe to say that at some point, Cain Marko will regain his powers somehow, but it begs to question, how, when and will he fully regain them or still be sort of a weaker version than we've known him to be?
Reading upon his history and the whole Octessence/Exemplars event, I wonder if they'd ever consider a storyline where a single avatar is capable of having control of all 8 powers of the Examplars? Think of it as an Infinity Gauntlet type thing where a person has all 8 relics at their disposal. Would Marvel ever consider such an event? And if they did? Could this be a way for Cain to regain his powers?
Of those 7 Exemplars that haven't been seen since the event, perhaps one of them could desire to have complete control of all 8 relics and somehow manages to strip the power away from the 6 other unseen Exemplars leaving them with only having to find the Crimson Ruby of Cyttorak to have full power.
Obviously the current Juggernaut (It's still Colossus right?) ends up being no match for this being but before the gem can be absorbed, there's a bit of divine intervention with Cyttorak sending the gem to Cain Marko, informing him that he's been the only one who has ever managed to fully tap the gem's power and that it can be his once more if he can destroy that power hungry Exemplar. Of course Cyttorak's ego could be stroked greatly if his powers managed to defeat the combined power of the 7 others relics and in the end, Cain could become the Juggernaut once more, at least until they decide he's too powerful again and they have him piss off Cyttorak once more until he's been weakened and gimped.
But yes, I'd love for them to figure out a way to restore him to his previous glory. If Peter Parker can come back from the dead (Which we all knew was going to happen). Then ol' Cain is going to get his powers back eventually.
Speaking of the Juggernaut, I'm happy to know that sometime during 2014, he will be a playable character in Marvel Heroes. But something tells me he'll likely be released during the 2nd half of this year though, the 1st quarter is rumored to be Nightcrawler (Jan), Moon Knight (Feb) and Dr. Strange (Mar).
Venom, Star Lord and Magneto will all likely be released during the summer months when the Marvel movies are coming out. If they continue releasing new characters at the end of each month, I could see Venom at the end of April in time for the new Spidey movie in early May, Magneto at the end of May for the X-Men movie and perhaps Star Lord right in time for the Guardians movie in late July.
Juggernaut could conceivably be released at the end of June if Star Lord is kept until late July and not released before his movie, but yeah, odds are, he'll likely be later in the year, plus it would make lots of sense to release the Silver Surfer during the summer months when surfing is the cool thing to do!
Perhaps if I'm lucky, we'll see Juggernaut in Super Hero Squad Online before his release in Marvel Heroes as something to tide me over with! At least the upcoming only villains mission is supposed to have us teaming up with an NPC Juggernaut partner!
