I have magical robo-boobs under my armor!

The EGA Sierra games were really artistically done. The early VGA games honestly didn't look as good. Look at Quest for Glory: the animation in the remake didn't synch up as well as it did in the original.

Or Shantae. I don't think the higher-res graphics have the same charm as the Game Boy Color original.

I still think Darkstalkers 3 is about the best-looking video game ever made, and it was made on old hardware with low-res graphics, even at the time.

That aside, there's a certain charm in pixelated graphics that I think has enough appeal to continue doing it. I wondered, if Mega Man 9 and 10 had used high res sprites instead of the old NES-era graphics -- and I'm talking, better graphics over the top of the old ones, with the same size and everything -- wouldn't it have been better? I don't know. Maybe! Then again, maybe not! There are other games that are straight-up homages to old machines like El Mulana (MSX) and VVVVV (Commodore 64), and they pretty much have to use old-school art, by definition.

If I make a video game, I'm going to make my sprites 100% in Microsoft Paint, using the default pallette. That ought to give it a certain old-school charm.
