I had an appointment this morning and Chris joined me. We got there right on time and I was ushered into triage right away.
14 weeks, 6 days
Blood pressure - 87/61
Heart Rate - 71
Weight - +~2 pounds since August
After triage I went straight into the exam room. Chris went to the washroom while I was at triage and I couldn't find him as I was walking between the rooms. I met the doctor and we chatted a bit. I had a couple questions. I asked about the cough I have. She said I can take regular Robitussin, Halls cough drops, and Tylenol any time. I'm pretty sure she mentioned Sudafed too but there is now some concern about the safety of it according to what I just read on the interwebs. I also asked about healthy weight gain since I am over weight. She said I should gain at least 15 pounds, and 15-20 is a good range for me.
Then I hopped up on the exam table to hear the baby's heartbeat. Wow, now that was an amazing sound! It was in the 150s (old wives' tale myth says girl hahaha - heart rate does not predict sex) and the beating was very clear. Chris still wasn't there and I mentioned it to the doctor. She popped her head out the door to get someone to go find Hubby and he joined us shortly after to hear the heartbeat too.
After that I scheduled my next appointment for January and then went to have another blood test. So far I've had 3 rounds of blood work during this. I was wearing a sweater with tight sleeves so the tech said he could take the blood from my hand. Chris walked in just as he was setting up but when he found out where I was getting the needle he excused himself to wait in the other room. I don't have any problems with needles and have had an I.V. in my hand so it wasn't a big deal for me. I think I may request my hand next time I get stuck as it seemed so quick and easy where my other blood tests have been a nightmare since they can never find my veins.
That wrapped up our baby adventures for the day. I've been weighing myself a couple times a week at home. I do it the same time of day and without clothes so that I am consistent. I'm following that since there are too many things that can effect my weight when I get weighed at the doctor's. So far I've gained about 2 pounds and that was over the week of Thanksgiving so I'm pretty proud of myself.
