Visiting family, settling in
Uh ya, it's been a while (again)
I have a good reason though! I spent last week unpacking and getting things put away around here. Then my parents along with my "aunt" and "uncle" arrived early in the evening on Saturday. They unloaded all of my furniture and boxes from Canada. Now that I finally got our Texas boxes unpacked I have 14 more from Canada. Word is they are mostly books and 2 boxes are china and crystal. So it shouldn't be too bad (hopefully). I suspect that I'll need to get more book shelves.
We've had a good visit. Busy doing stuff around the house and shopping. It's a bit of a pain as any time we need to run to a particular store I have to google the closest location and then mapquest directions. I tell ya it will be nice to be able to get around here with less effort. I'm slowly getting into the swing of things here.
I think what I'll do is take it room by room and update what we've done and what is left to do. I'm not going to start tonight since I'm already in bed. I have to get the house pulled together first though. I was in a rush unpacking so there is still stuff that needs to be taken care of. Like drawers that need to be organized, pics to be hung, books to be shelved, etc. I just got the house livable for their visit.
Tomorrow they will be hitting the road before the sun even makes an appearance. It has been great having them around and helping us get started but I'm ready to find our (normal) in this new place. Our furniture did arrive today. My mission, in addition to pulling it all together, is to get end tables and a dining room set over the coming week. I'll have a lot of time on my own with Chris in the field soon so that will keep me busy. I just don't like having to be alone and Chris anticipates the field being a waste of time this round.
I will be taking Puff to get her nails done tomorrow and tackling the house. Fun times around here I tell ya.
