The past week - packing, cleaning, friends, good-byes, hello Meade!

Monday morning we woke up and headed home to start cleaning. Chris took care of a few things he needed to do and I got to cleaning. We didn't get far as we had to get back to the Round Rock area to get to the vet's before joining Candace and Steve for dinner at Trudy's. Dinner was yummy. When we got back I opened a good-bye gift from Candace. It was a really nice frame with a friendship theme and a collage of pics of us, Misti, Lisa, and a couple hubbies. We played Scene It before turing in for the night.

Tuesday morning I said good-bye to Candace. It wasn't long and drawn out as it was early/we were both sleepy/and we had to get back to K-town. Back in Killeen we got to finishing up the cleaning. The pooches were dropped off for grooming at Petsmart, the carpet people arrived, the pest control people arrived, I went to the dentist and then to Barnes and Nobel while waiting for the house to be safe again, then I finished up cleaning. The inspector arrived and we'll be getting 100% of our deposit back, yay! That's both of our homes that I've done such a super fabulous job on the move out stuff that we've gotten our full deposit back.
After the inspection we picked the girls up and I headed to Chris' parent's place and he stayed in town for a dinner with his former squad. He got into town a few hours after me. We spent a few days there. Thursday we had our going away dinner and it was great. We spent a couple hours at Texas Land and Cattle and had a great meal. We also stopped for a drink at Stan's with Colby, Catherine, and Shane. Colby and Catherine are such a great couple to spend time with. Hopefully they'll get a chance to visit us in MD.
Saturday morning we got our things organized before going to see our niece's t-ball game. After that we got on the road in separate cars for a long 2 day drive.

Originally the girls were together in the crate. I had the area in front of the crate cleared so that they could see me. Well I eventually decided to move Audrey out of the crate and onto a doggy bed in front of it. That way they both had their own space. I put an over night bag across the front seats to block her from trying to come up front.
We stopped in TN for the night. The hotel was good and we got on the road yet again. We didn't have as long a drive the second day. I planned our stop for just past the half-way point to give us a break on Sunday. The girls were clearly getting bored but were relaxed and sleepy the whole way.

My bamboo made the trip with us as well.

Sunday evening we checked into an extended stay Marriott in MD. We got the girls settled and ordered a pizza for dinner. We crashed and then on Monday headed down to the base. We stopped in at housing, got some info and we drove out on our own to see the 2 units they were offering us. I didn't like the first one and the second one was nice but not available until Oct 15. We'd have to stay in the hotel for a long time. Plus it would be really getting tight on getting our things here before my parents come in.
After lunch we met with the housing lady again and she took us to see inside the one unit and we could also see inside a similar one to the unit that isn't available right away. The one we could have moved into yesterday was small and I didn't like the set up. The other place is bigger and cuter from the outside. We chose the second one and were happy to find out from the head renovation guy that it will be ready to move-in by the end of the week.
It is in a small court (cul de sac) and is set up as a cute little town house. We're in the "C" unit, the middle grey one.

It is a nice little 3 bedroom and has some nice storage space. Plus the master bedroom has a huge double walk-in closet. Once we get our furniture and stuff I'll take pics of the inside. As a real bonus the back yard has a sliding glass door off the living room and it is fully fenced!
After all the business on base we picked up subs and returned to the hotel. We are just relaxing today. Chris is in bed watching movies in the next room and I'm in the living room working on change of addresses stuff and such. I'm pretty sure I've gotten most of it taken care of. The breakfast here is great but I'm sure I'll be hungry soon. Other than searching for food we're taking a day off. We both need to just rest from all of the craziness. We get our new place earlier than they anticipated, so Friday we'll be leaving the hotel and moving on base.
