Well I got my clothes sorting started on Thursday. I went through by bottom drawer and the storage bins under the bed. I still have my other drawers and the closet. Already I have a huge pile for Goodwill. Why do I hate parting with my clothes? I have some cute things but they are too mall now and by the time I will fit into them again they aren't going to be something I'd want to wear. Oh well. Onward I guess.
Chris wanted to go out to lunch when he got home shortly after noon. So we went to Olive Garden and had a yummy meal. Then we did a bit of running around before heading home with yummy Starbucks. I had my 2nd Pumpkin Spice Latte of the season. I called my mom and chatted with her while sipping. We discussed my options for getting my furniture from Canada when we get to Maryland. I had sent her some pricing ideas. The least expensive would be getting a hitch for the Turtle and using a Uhaul trailer. The other slightly more expensive option would be to fly there and get a 10' truck.
After that I chatted with my girlfriends online and another friend from home on the phone, before I knew it time had gotten away and it was bed time. This morning Chris had some army stuff to do before we headed down to Austin. We met Misti, Candace and Steve at Fogo de Chao for Brazilian barbecue for lunch. It was a great meal and much more affordable than going at dinner time.
After Fogo we said goodbye to our friends and headed off to the state capital. Chris wanted to get a couple of "Don't Mess with Texas" stickers and garbage bags. While we were in the gift shop we got a couple of the ornaments that they put out every year. I'm still disappointed that 1996 & 1997 are retired and I missed buying them. I got 1998 last year and today we picked up 1999 and 2000.
This year's is beautiful but I want to make sure I get all the older ones that I like before they are retired. They stop making and selling them after 10 years. Chris found a souvenir he liked - a wooden desk box. Unfortunately all the ones they had were scratched on the seal so they are having a "perfect" one sent from the warehouse to the gift shop for us to pick up next weekend.
After the capital we headed to Nissan. When we got the Turtle almost 2 years ago they couldn't find the second key. They eventually sent us the key and fob but we didn't realize the key wasn't programmed until just recently. It was going to take a while and so Chris grabbed a newspaper in the waiting room. I called my family and mom wasn't home but dad was. We talked about moving my Canadian stuff. He doesn't think using my car would be a good idea. The resistance and the weight would be hard on it not to mention he doesn't think my queen size bed would fit in the trailer. I guess mom must have talked to him about it because he contacted Uhaul about getting a truck. Looks like he's thinking of either driving the truck down with a car thingy and driving home or trucking here then flying back. He'd either bring my mom or "uncle". He's looking into it more on Monday now that he has some info from me (nearest town to the base, dates etc), it will certainly give him something to do!
We headed to the Round Rock outlets so I could browse LeCreuset for Christmas wish list ideas. I picked up these for myself but in red.
They are silicone pinch bowls. They're only 1/4 cup each and cute little things. Yay!
We wandered around a bit more and picked up a monster caramel apple from Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory. We stopped at a few Targets on the way home and I am now satisfied with the tshirts I got for my nieces. Pics to come soon. I'm in bed on Hubby's laptop and don't feel like finding my camera. They are cute!
We got home at 7pm and of course the girls were excited to see us.We shared the caramel apple for dinner while watching No Reservations (the movie). Now Chris is playing Rock Band and I am in bed ready to sleep. Tomorrow I am finishing my clothes and Hubby will be helping me tackle our stuff that needs to be sorted and pitched into the trash or packed. Plus I need to go through my Christmas ornaments/decorations and pull out my candles (no shipping them) and make sure that if the movers decide to pack the decorations in their totes that all will survive. This time next week we'll have nothing in our house and we'll be hanging with Candace at her place. It's all coming up quickly!
