My goodness an actual update!

On Friday Chris managed to get off at a nice early time. I hit the gym before crashing with Chris for a wee bit. We got up, pulled ourselves together, and it was off to Austin.
Our first stop was the capital building. We had ordered a flag to be flown for a friend of ours on his birthday and it was ready to be picked up. I had spoken to the office of the Sergeant at Arms on Thursday so I knew the flag was good to go and they would be open for pick up until 9pm. On our way in I helped some tourists take a group picture(wow, I'm not a tourist in Texass - it's taken me 5 years to be able to say that). When we got to the office there were two guys sitting there and told us that the person who has the key was gone for the day. Yikes! I told them we'd come from K-town to pick it up and were told just the day before we could pick it up any time before 9pm. So they had a DPS officer from the building come and unlock the cupboard and there it was. We ordered a cotton flag and it was folded perfectly and came with a really nice certificate.
Once done with that we were headed out of the building where we saw this pretty young hispanic girl taking pictures for what I can only guess is her Quinceañera. Her dress was gorgeous. I have only had the opportunity to see one other group celebrating and it wasn't as elaborate as this one. I feel that when I leave here and move to MD I won't often have these opportunities again.
We headed to the Melting Pot where we met up with Misti, Candace, Steve, and Becky. She had made the trip down from MA and it was my first time meeting her. Once we got settled in it was a really nice dinner. I enjoyed meeting Becky, she's nice and interesting. Plus she has a great voice. Dinner was long and yummy and then we made our treck back home.
Saturday morning we slept in. I woke up and watched a show I DVRed the night before and then got ready to head out. I woke Chris up and he joined me and the girls on a trip to Petsmart. My parents had sent Sofie a gift certificate for her bday and so we were off to spend it as well as pick up kibble and cookies. Sofie liked her moo-ing cow so much we picked out the frog from the same line. After that we stopped by McDonald's to pick up lunch.
As we were unloading from the car I sent Sofie directly into the house. Audrey went around to the yard on the other side of the car and my arms were full of our lunch etc. I heard some kids across the street calling to her and I dropped everything and ran. Kids are like crack for Audrey, they have been since she was a tiny puppy. Since she was sniffing something she was distracted enough to ignore them for a minute (yay, spaniel nose) and I grabbed her before she could run across the street and get hit by a car. I also shouted across the street at the kids to not call her across, that it is dangerous. Seriously, where are the parents? Who would let their young kids play so close to a busy street and who doesn't teach their children not to call or approach unfamiliar dogs? What if instead of my little ball of lovin' it was a dangerous dog? Jeepers! Train your kids people. As far as Audrey goes, she stays in the yard without any problem and is never unsupervised but I don't know if she could have resisted kids actually calling to her.
I ushered Audrey into the house and picked up the dropped packages. My milkshake was safe, everyone can just relax. We ate lunch, napped, watched Be Kind Rewind, and relaxed for the evening.
Sunday I pretty much read all day. Chris popped out to the gym and we were naughty and got pizza for dinner. But hey, it was Sunday and that's what we do. Monday and Tuesday Chris worked, I made it to the gym both days. That's about all. I did talk to my gym about the possibility of extending my membership. It expires August 21 and we don't leave until Oct 1 but they won't. It will cost about $107 for one month so it looks like I'll be hitting the (free) gyms on post. Joy. Good bye cardio cinema.
Off to do some laundry and watch a bit of Buffy. I was going to vacuum today but ended up having to do that last night when the girls came in with mud on their paws. Plus I'll have to prep the chicken for the crock pot soon. Yum! maybe I'll look up different seasonings for it.
