Busy Gal, Mom Visting

On Wednesday after I finally stopped procrastinating I got the house cleaned up. I was up late making sure it was perfect. I don't even want to tell you how late I was up and that was with a house that was pretty much clean already!
Thursday was a busy day made more challenging by the crazy rain. I got up early to take the girls out to Petsmart in Temple for grooming. Grooming never takes more than 3 hours so I was going to run errands out there and maybe go to Starbucks before picking them up again. Well when I got there they asked to keep them an extra couple of hours which kinda threw off my plans but it was ok. I went back to K-town where I did a couple errands and took care of some things around the house. In the afternoon it was very cold and pouring down rain when I made my trip back to pick up the girls.  On my way out I saw a pick up truck with a big mobile home turned over. On my way back I was concerned about traffic around the accident so I took the access road where I saw a FedEx truck that had rolled down the embankment and was laying upside down! It was a crazy sight.
Once home I got the girls settled in, washed up, and hit the road. I met Misti a bit early at the movie theater where we saw Penelope. It was a beautifully shot movie. It was a great story and really well done. I had some over-packaged nachos and cheese but the over packaging made them ridiculously fresh. After the movie we trekked off to Bess Bistro on 6th Street. It was a fabulous restaurant. Very nicely decorated. The food and company were both fantastic. Maybe I'll take my mom there this week.
Speaking of mom, after the movie and a late dinner it was time to pick my mom up at the airport shortly after 11. I made it on time, her flight was a wee bit delayed. It was great to see her again. Once we got her bags we hit the road and drove straight home.
It was was almost 1am by the time we made it home but it didn't stop us from sitting and chatting for a couple of hours before heading to bed. We slept in on Friday before having some breakfast and heading out to the commissary for some groceries. Once home we unpacked, I had a date with Chris, and then we pulled ourselves together for our company.
Around 5pm my m-i-l and Pat arrived. We chatted and I set about making a taco salad which we all enjoyed. Shortly after 6 my friends Lisa, Candace, and Misti arrived followed shortly after by Jenn. We chatted a bit and then headed out  to Starlight Station.
We got there at about 7 for the line dancing lessons. We learned the 2 songs we did previously in October plus added a third. It was fun and my mom and friends really enjoyed themselves. Pat doesn't like country music so she just snapped pictures and my m-i-l quit pretty quickly due to a problem with her back and she wasn't feeling very coordinated. The club opened officially and we got some drinks and settled in to watch some couples two-stepping around the floor. Eventually we went upstairs and watched from above until a couple of the songs we had learned the dance to came on. In respect for Pat who didn't like the music and Jenn who had to get up ridiculously early we headed out. We all spent some time back at my place before my friends departed. It was a fun evening.
The next morning we woke up pretty early. I made everyone French toast which got rave reviews and sausages for breakfast. After eating and washing up we lounged around chatting before heading out to a coffee house for, well, coffee. Then it was to Target for a bit of shopping before heading home to pull ourselves quickly together. My mom, house-guests, and I headed down to Austin to pick up Misti before going to the down town melting Pot where we met Lisa, Candace, and Sabrina. Our service was rotten but the food was good. After dinner we went to Pete's Dueling Piano Bar and had a fantastic time. All too soon I was getting worried about my dogs. By the time we left they had been alone for almost 8 hours and the trip home is more than an hour so we had to leave. It was so much fun. After dropping Lisa and Sabrina off at Lisa's place we made our way back to K-town where we didn't stay up chatting and just pretty much went straight to bed.
This morning after getting up we chatted some more, had some breakfast and my m-i-l and Pat headed on home around lunch time. Mom and I had some left over taco salad and had a long talk about growing up and the way things were when I was a child. It is always interesting to have these conversations. You never really know what all is going on when you are a kid. Then it was time for my "date" with Chris but he never showed up. Maybe I'll get a call from him tonight. He had a big day today so it could be that he just didn't get a chance to talk. After waiting about an hour mom and I both took naps. Then we ate dinner and relaxed a bit. It has certainly been a lazy day.
Tomorrow I think the plan is to do some shopping in Austin and maybe eat at Steak N Shake. Tuesday or Wednesday we'll be going to San Antonio. At some point we'll go see a movie. Other than that we don't have any scheduled plans. We'll just see what happens!
