So, what else has happened since February? Surprisingly little. I'm still at the same dead-end job, and super-resentful about what I see as willful neglect of my health/well-being, but there aren't really a whole lot of jobs out there right now. I'm thinking about getting a weekend job (if I can find one) so that I will have some income when our hours get cut after December.
Gardening this year went ridiculously well. Most people we talked to had a rough year of it, with too much rain and then not enough rain, but our plot had good drainage and very high quality soil. We definitely got enough produce to cover the costs of seed, tools, etc, and maybe even enough to compensate for time. Since we like gardening, though, the last part is just gravy. Also, a lot of the time-consuming, back-breaking work of last year was one-time projects, like tilling up the space. This year, we won't have to turn a decade-old lawn into a garden. :)
Buying a house, obviously, went less well. We didn't find out until we had found the perfect house, either, so that was... disheartening. But, we know now, and we're in a place that looks like it will be ideal for the three-or-so years we think it will take to save up a decent down-payment and all that jazz.
Running got put on hold when work wreaked my knee... left on hold because I didn't feel safe jogging in that neighbourhood... still on hold for weather. We'll see this weekend, but I may wait until spring. I don't tend to jog much in winter.
All in all, it's been a good several months, aside from the brief-but-painful period of mourning for the Lappy2000, may it rest in peace (unless I can manage to resurrect it. Just... if it shows up on your doorstep be aware that it may be a zombie, and I don't know if it will be after human brains or CPUs)
So, uh, how have y'all been since then?
