And now, the more detailed version:

So yes, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. I need to learn how to meditate. I have to change how I eat. I have to get allergy/food sensitivity testing. I have to go for Cognitive Therapy. I have to keep a daily log of my new eating habits and physical activity/energy level for follow-up in three months. I have to get more bloodwork done to rule out any other underlying issues and to confirm if my previous results of an elevated white blood cell count is consistent (Medical Theory Aside: This is a currently being bantered about as a cause for issues like CFS and Fybromyalgia; the immune system somehow gets turned "on" and never shuts itself off, which uses up the body's energy and resources). But basically, I am officially "Disabled", rating a 25.0 in "Overall Health" on a scale where 72.0 is deemed normal.

As far as work goes, she wrote me a Letter of Accommodation, stating that my work hours should be reduced back to six hours a day, that I require flexible breaks (which we currently have, but will be changing to scheduled breaks sometime in the near future), permission to wear earplugs to reduce background noise to help my concentration level, and space to lie down for rest/meditation purposes on those breaks. She'll be sending a more detailed letter to my GP, which is what I'll send the insurance company.

I'm half sort of amused to see how HR reacts. Technically, if they refuse they're breaking the law, but it's likely they will anyway. She said to be prepared to fight and of they want to get rid of me, force it to be their move; don't quit, keep going in as much as I can and doing as much work as I can while I'm there. And if they do fire me (also illegal), she gave me the names of two labour lawyers. Obviously I'm hoping it doesn't come to that, but the ball's in their court, so to speak.

Yay?

medical crap, real life stuff
