Brief Summary of Anime Personality:
Hibiki Ganaha is energetic and is the kind of person who enjoys having a lot of fun. She’s quick to make friends and help out, and she usually has a high level of energy. She’s not shy in the least, and she’s not the kind of person who hides what she’s thinking (she does, however, have tact--even when correcting others, she’s polite or low-key about it). She hates being bored, and loves talking with her friends. In these ways, she’s pretty much an average teenage girl. That would be kind of boring, though, wouldn’t it?
Hibiki is an idol. She has a strong fondness for singing and dancing. She’s no slouch at it, either. She works hard at dancing training, and in the series she’s seen several times with script/information that she needs to go over. When she’s not having fun, she’s studying, in other words. She loves dancing more than most things, and she’s not a bad singer either. She’s not a big name yet, but she’s working hard for that day when she’ll become famous. As for the reason she became an idol? There are two.
The first reason is that she needs to make money. In the game, her father passed away, so she’s working hard to support her family. The other reason is that she needs to feed all of her pets...of which she has eleven. She has a dog, cat, snake, parrot, chipmunk, rabbit, alligator, pig, flying squirrel, chicken, and hamster. She loves animals just as much as she loves being an idol. Her favorite pet, Hamuzou, often accompanies her on idol outings and photo shoots. Despite her love for them, though, they’re always running away or she’s losing them. It’s not because she mistreats them, though. Hibiki’s relationship with animals is more akin to how one views a family. She feeds them and takes care of them, yes, but they often get in quarrels if Hibiki eats something they wanted or other small mistakes. At the end of the day, since Hibiki’s family lives in Okinawa, they’re like her family. She always finds them or they come back in the end. She loves to play with them, roll with them, and can even understand them at times. In addition to loving them, though, she’s also great at catching them. She can catch a fish in the ocean just by swimming after it. Hibiki’s an intense girl when it comes to animals.
The other reason is that she’s stubborn. Her brother made a stupid comment about how if she tried to become an idol, she’d immediately fall in with the wrong crowd. So, ever since becoming an idol at 765 Pro, she hasn’t talked to her brother. She’s stubborn to the point where she will just cut something out if it isn’t working with her or if she disagrees with you. She can be brought around to her senses, though. She’s also very gullible--this is more present in the game, but if someone tells her something that makes sense, she’ll believe it. She’s more likely to believe rumors and gossip without waiting to verify its accuracy.
Hibiki can also be very hot-headed. When something threatens someone or something she loves, she’ll stop at nothing to help out. Even if it doesn’t really involve her, she’ll pop out of nowhere to take care of it or defend someone’s honor. This is especially true in the case of Yayoi who is young and hamster-like, therefore prone to Hibiki’s undying love and affection. In episode 7, she goes off alone in search of Yayoi’s brother despite having never been to the area before. She also lets get things get out of hand at times, and can be easily flustered or can go on a rant. In one interview, she spends the entire time talking about her animals instead of herself and her talents. Also, when she loses a pet, she’s quick to cry. A more positive side of this is that Hibiki has many positive, competitive rivalries with other idols, especially Makoto. In episode five, she challenges Makoto to a race to a rock instead of relaxing and splashing with the others (like mentioned earlier, though, she catches a fish mid-race).
Aside from being competitive, hot-headed, and obsessed with animals, though, Hibiki is also very generous...in an almost pushy, overbearing way. She loves to spread the influence of Okinawa by cooking for her friends. She forces these things on people, but no one really seems to mind (especially Yayoi, who will never turn down a free meal. Ever.). She’s also very understanding of her friends, and she rarely complains about things. All-in-all, Hibiki is a fun-loving Okinawan idol. She loves animals, but can sometimes be a bit over the top...in the end, though, out of all the idols in the series, Hibiki ranks near the top as one of the best friends to have around.
Strengths/Weaknesses:
Strengths: Hibiki is very athletic and has a wide variety of skills ranging from dancing to swimming. She’s also a good chef, and when she puts her mind to it, she’s very good at studying as well. It doesn’t take her long to figure out how something works. She’s very friendly and outgoing and has no problem making friends. She’s also very dependable and would hate to let a friend down. She gets along great with animals...in her own special way.
Weaknesses: Hibiki is stubborn and sometimes fails to think through her actions. She can jump to conclusions, and she panics easily in situations that could have been easily avoided. She has a tendency to ramble from time to time, and she’s not very good at managing several things at once. An interesting note is that she’s also horrible at understanding things like music equipment, getting tangled in wires in episode 2, and she is horrible at understanding the subway system. She can get anywhere if she walks, but thankfully, there are no complex subway systems in Johto.

Hahaha! Nice one, Poochiko!
[The video feed turns on to reveal Hibiki looking down at something and grinning. When she notices she got it to work this time, she grins down at the camera instead.]
Alright! Everyone watch this! I’m gonna win this time, too. Ah, here, hold this...
[She hands the camera to one of her Pokémon, who then focuses it at a tree in the distance.]
I’m gonna be the first one to get that tree! Ready...go!
[And they’re off! Previously too small to be seen, a Poochyena joins Hibiki in a race to the tree. Just when they’re close, and it looks like Hibiki’s about to win, the dog tackles her instead, sending them both rolling on the ground.]
So you wanna fight, huh?! That’s fine, too!
[Without dusting herself off or anything, Hibiki takes a defensive stance. When her starter tackles her again, she catches him and flings him a few yards away.]
This is great! Come on, don’t tell me that’s all you got!
[She’s still grinning, though she’s far away from the camera. The Poochyena doesn’t seem distressed, either...but Hibiki remembers her other Pokémon and waves him over. Just as she does, Poochiko tackles her again.]
Oi, come over h---hey, that’s not fair! I wasn’t lookin’! Poochikooo!
[They continue to play-fight, but the camera feed clicks off.]
Third Person Sample:
“Alright, Poochiko! Let’s do our best!”
Standing at the top of the stairs leading down to the Magnet Train, Hibiki Ganaha looked down at her partner, the Poochyena. This was going to be a piece of cake. Normally, she was the kind of girl who got confused and ended up traveling to somewhere completely different. She was told this was as easy as it got, though. How could things possibly go wrong?
She moved down the stairs at a brisk pace with Poochiko playfully jumping around her feet as she walked. Despite the tripping hazard it presented, she made it down the stairs safely and started to approach the train. The idol was normally completely oblivious to just how dangerous her Pokémon could be at times.
“Ahhh! Look, Poochiko! This one’s so big! This’ll be no problemo!”
With a hum, she moved over to the ticket counter. The ticket attendant smiled at her. This was it! She was going to get on that train, and nothing was going to stop her. She had a lunch ready, and she’d be in Saffron in no time.
“Hey! So, this train runs twenty-four hours a day, right? I’m not too late or somethin’?” Hibiki sounded hopeful as she asked her first question. “And it runs everyday?” The ticketmaster nodded. So far, things we’re going so good. “And Poochiko can ride, too? Normally, trains like this aren’t made for animals. It’s kinda unfair, isn’t it?” She winked down at her partner, who barked in response.
When everything was affirmed, she started to dig through her bag. “That’ll be one ticket, then! Unless Poochiko needs one, too.” It would be only a matter of hours before she was--
“Hyaaa! Poochiko, Poochiko, have you seen my wallet?! Oh, no, I think I left it back in the hotel when I was making room in here for snacks!”
Hibiki started to tear up. It was embarrassing. Poochiko’s ears flattened and he hid behind his paws. She couldn't believe she overlooked the most important thing.
“I’m sorry! It’ll just be a while. I’ll come right back! Let’s go, Poochiko...”
With a defeated sigh, she took one last look at the train and started for the stairs again.
