Aeryn's tired of being cooped up in the cabin today, so as soon as the sun's going down, she heads outside for a while. She's got a bottle of water with her, mostly because it will probably keep John from asking her if she needs any, and puts it down as she takes a seat on the front step, just taking advantage of being out here while she can.

John comes out of the cabin, sits beside her and eyes her suspiciously.

She looks over, catching his expression. "What?"

"Feeling okay?"

[can_be_more]

"Completely," she assures him, and holds up her water bottle like that's proof.

[whitedeathpod]

"Just checking," he says. "I hate the summer."

"Why?" she asks, still watching him. She has her reasons, of course, but.

"You can get sick so easily," he says. "I hate that part of your anatomy."

She blinks at that comment, but knows he doesn't mean anything by it. "It's easy to work around. It's a bit limiting, that's all."

"I know," he says and shrugs. "It's just scary."

"Sorry," she says sincerely, shrugging back. "Not much to be done about it, unfortunately."

"Don't apologize," he says. "You didn't do anything wrong. I just get easily concerned when you get too hot. I'm sorry for that."

"I refuse to let us go around with apologies," she says dryly, but pauses. "I do appreciate the concern."

"Yes, I can see that when you're snapping at me," he says and laughs.

Aeryn sighs a little. "I don't mean to, you know," she says.

"I know," he says, "which is why I don't snap back. Most of the time."

She bumps his shoulder lightly. "I'll be more careful."
