Just then, a shot from a pulse rifle rang through the crowd, and a team of Peacekeeper soldiers formed a wall in front of them, trying to block one avenue of escape. People began to scatter for cover, or in some cases, for their own weapons.

This is really the first time that John's seen these guys and they don't look so tough.

So, he throws a rock towards the group just to test.

Unfortunately, Peacekeepers didn't take too well to actions like that, and a couple turned their weapons in John's direction.

"Oh, shits," John says and takes cover behind a shoddy wooden crate." Be nice!"

Isabel's hand is up, ready to shield them if needed. "I don't think they do nice, John."

If the Peacekeepers didn't listen, if might have had something to do with the fact that they were already firing over his head. Or maybe they were just doing their jobs.

"Yeah, I guess they don't," John agrees. "I hate guns."

The blasts were coming a little too close for comfort. Isabel held out her hand like Max had describe and focused on creating a wall between them and the pulse rifle blasts.

Isabel's wall worked really well at blocking the weapons fire, but it didn't stop them from trying anyway. Others were still firing at other places besides them as well.

Aeryn makes sure she's nowhere near the barrier, just because it means she can still shoot. She's more than happy when she gets one of them and he doesn't get up. She won't even feel bad about it later.

Sam crept around to the right, firing rapidly with her P-90, aiming for the people who were aiming at John and Isabel.

One of the Peacekeepers went down immediately, while another fell to the ground clutching his shoulder. Then he picked up the pulse rifle with his injured arm and tried firing anyway. They really were a stubborn species.

"Isabel, keep the barrier small and low--protect yourself and John, but we need room to shoot," Sam ordered over all the noise, "and keep your eyes open!"

She shot in the direction of the pulse rifle fire, using a nearby vehicle for cover.

Isabel crouched low next to John, focusing on the shield and trying to make it smaller. "Is this any better Sam?"

Sam ducked and ran behind it as pulse rifle fire just missed her head. "Yeah, thanks!" She fired back.

Beside Sam, one of the aliens that had been milling around fired off a shot from a weapon on his wrist. "Yeah, thanks!" he parroted, more or less just because he could.

Making his way over, Peter nodded to the alien. "We're helpful like that."

Peter probably should have spent more time with this pulse pistol thing before this started. Oh well, he'd figure it out.

Bekhesh looked over at him, frowned- though really, it was hard to tell with him- and said, "Amateur."

"Tool," Peter said, finally figuring how to fire a shot towards the Peacekeepers.

Bekhesh frowned more. "No, gun."

And he fired off a few shots with the gauntlet into the line of Peacekeepers, to make up for the weird Sebacean kid not knowing something that easy.

Isabel was starting to get tired of playing defense. It took some effort, but she was able to maintain the shield while simultaneously tipping a cart loaded with fruit onto two Peacekeepers.

The Peacekeepers fall under it, trying to push it off of them. One of their weapons has been knocked completely away from their grasp.

Giving up trying to reach the weapon, one picked up a piece of fruit and threw it at the barrier.

The fruit bounced harmlessly away. Isabel resisted the urge to stick her tongue out at the Peacekeeper. Instead she pulled the loose weapon over to where she and John were hiding. "John? Maybe we can use that?"

"We can use that," John agrees. "It's an energy weapon. Something Aeryn has. Pull and shoot and keep it away from eyes, feet, arms. You want it?"

"I've never shot a weapon before in my life," Isabel admitted. "You take it for now. I'll work defense." Of course John having a weapon meant she needed to lower the shield so he could shoot. She tried to make herself even smaller while still keeping watch around them.

"Right." John didn't much like weapons either but he at least knew how one of these worked. He moved from their spot of cover and took aim at the people shooting at them and just hoped that the gun didn't jam.

As one of the Peacekeepers hadn't been paying attention to that angle, he took a shot, which in Peacekeeper terms meant he deserved it.

At the same time, a few of the Peacekeepers positioned on the flanks began moving closer, out of the line of fire.

"Holy shit, I actually hit someone," John says and ducks behind cover. "They're closing in on us. Ideas, anyone?"

"Maybe we can forget about any dinner reservations? And see about getting the hell out of here," Isabel called over her shoulder. She peered around the corner of the large box she was hiding behind, trying to see if she could acquire another weapon.

Luke had a sudden image of Han barreling down a hallway full of Stormtroopers. Not the way Luke wanted to go out, thanks.

He took careful shots at any Peacekeepers who looked like they were getting too close, but kept his lightsaber on his belt.

"Is there another way back to the ships?" he asked.

"I'm gonna make a hole," Sam announced, hefting one of the new grenades she'd bought in her hand and told them, "Keep your heads down, but get ready to run when they scatter."

She set the timer and tossed it towards the door. "DOWN!"

The grenade rolled towards the doorway, and a few seconds later, it went off with a bang. It also managed to collapse part of the doorframe, so anyone trying to get out would have to pick away debris to escape.

Also, now there was a cart owner yelling about damaged product.

Luke wiped off some of the dust and gave Sam a bright smile. "Nice."

Sam grinned back. "Not exactly what I'd intended, but thanks."

Peter's spider-sense went off before he heard the shot. "Crap. I can't leave them alone for five minutes." He decided to make better time over to his friends by using a wall to get past the crowd.

There was a shout from one Peacekeeper to the others, and seconds later there were shots being fired at the wall.

As soon as the shots were fired, Peter was off the wall, taking long leaps towards the Peacekeepers while dodging shots. He was also trying to get the pulse pistol out of its holster. By the time he finally got it out, he was right in front of the soldiers. "Hi."

The soldiers paused, aiming their weapons at him.

Peter utilized that pause to the best of his abilities, flipping behind the soldiers, kicking at one in midair, and hitting another with the pistol when he landed. "Sorry about this, but I don't know how to fire it yet."

John peers up from his hiding place and smothers a grin. "Now, that's cool."

John fires a few shots at the remaining Peacekeepers in an attempt to hit and distract.

Aeryn would be impressed that John's managing to hit anything, except she's paying more attention to the shots being directed at her, over on the other side as she tries to pick them off from where they aren't expecting it.

She moves against a wall for cover just long enough to change out the cartridge on her weapon, calling back, "Get the door clear!" then puts herself right back in it. Any shot that comes close to hitting her earns that particular soldier a very well-aimed shot right back.

And this is where Isabel can actually be useful. "Watch my back," she told John. Then stretched out her hand and focused on the wreckage of the door, pulling pieces of debris away. If any of that debris happened to hit a random Peacekeeper? Well, accidents happen.

"Got it," John says and gives her some cover fire, careful not to hit anyone of his friends.

The Peacekeepers were trying to close in around the group. No one could advance, though at least the group of young Sebaceans were getting the door clear.

However, even they were surprised when one of the creatures that had been shooting at them turned around and fired a shot the other way.

"What are you doing?" the male asked the female.

The female, not lowering her weapon, answered, "They must have done something wrong. Perhaps they're worth a reward!"

"...Good point," the male said, and turned his fire on the group as well.

"Hey!" John yelps as new fire heads their way. "Hey, stop it! Dammit!"

Peter turned towards the new people and fired some webbing at their weapons.

He didn't think that it would actually stop the fire, but it might confuse them for a few moments.

Luke cautiously ignited the lightsaber. If it could repel the lasers from the remote, maybe it would work here, too.

He kept his head down, though, just in case it didn't.

Sam slung the P-90 over her shoulder for a minute and yanked her handgun out of her holster. With this many inexperienced fighters around, there was less chance of her hitting someone she was friends with, since the handgun was more accurate.

She promptly aimed and fired for the gun hands of the two new aliens shooting at them.

That earned a growl from the male, dropping his weapon from his stung hand before he began to walk over to them.

He was cut off by fire from the Peacekeepers behind them, and suddenly figuring this might be a bad idea, he turned to the female instead. "Let them deal with their own problems."

"But the bounty!" she insisted.

"Frell the bounty. I'm the one getting shot!"

They continued to bicker and bark at each other even as they retreated.

"Ah, love," John says and fires back at the Peacekeepers. "I can't wait till I'm married."

"As long as they're happy," Peter chimed in, attempting to shoot at the Peacekeepers.

"You're always this quippy with the bad guys?" Isabel asked as she rolled her eyes. Then she started using her powers to fling whatever she could find at the Peacekeepers.

"Usually quippier," Peter said, firing a few more shots. "They're too far away so I'm toning it down to preserve my voice."

Meanwhile the Peacekeepers continued to open fire, aiming especially for the boy with the glowing sword thing.

Peter continued to return fire, but shot a web at one of the soldier's rifles. Snagging the gun, he pulled it back towards himself.

"Hey! You lost a rifle! I can give it back starting with the ammo!" Peter aimed but ended up firing wildly. "Sorry if miss! I'm kinda new at this long range weapon thing!"

"As long as you aim away from us, we're fine," Luke said, parrying the laser beams back towards the Peacekeepers.

And the walls nearby. And the occasional cart.

He wasn't great with his aim yet.

Once the Peacekeepers saw what the glowstick thing actually did, they tried a lot harder to avoid the weapon itself. They didn't let up their fire, though.

"How's the wall?" Aeryn calls, looking back just long enough for a shot to go whizzing past her head. She turns back to fire, she sees that Xhalax has not only made it to the fight, but she's one of the people shooting.

Right then Aeryn decides all bets are off, and she's got to stop playing nice. When one of her stolen weapons jams, she drops it. And when she sees that Bekhesh is down and his weapon is lying on the ground, she moves to pick it up. She has no idea how to work it, she just knows that it seemed more powerful than what everyone is using, and she wants this over and done with.

John's weapon runs out of energy or oil or something so he throws it towards the Peacekeepers and looks around for something else to use as weapon.

Unholstering one of the pulse pistol from her leg, Aeryn tosses it to him, giving up on the gauntlet and putting it in the empty holster. She grabs the last weapon that she'd stolen, and then it's shooting like normal.

John catches the weapon with a minimum amount of fumbling and starts shooting again.

"God, these things breed like bunnies," he mutters. "Something to look forward to, right Aeryn?"

John's lucky she didn't just shoot him right now.

Luke rolled his eyes, too. "Out's that way, right?" he said, parrying with more confidence.

Aeryn nods, jerking her hand in the direction of the exit while continuing to shoot with the other. "Go."

"Someone has to be first," Luke muttered to himself, then went charging towards the opening, lightsaber blocking the shots he couldn't dodge.

Isabel wasn't contributing much to the fire fight so she followed right behind him.

Peter followed Isabel, continuing to fire with poor aim at the Peacekeepers. "Bye, soldiers! I'll miss you!" He stayed by the door once he exited.

"Aeryn, you and John get out of here!" Sam called, once again firing at the Peacekeepers with the P-90. If they didn't get out of there soon, she would run out of ammo. "I've got your six."

Aeryn backs up a couple of steps, but she keeps looking towards a certain figure who's shooting at them, now yelling orders.

"Aeryn." John speaks loudly but firmly. "Aeryn, come on. We've gotta go. Now."

Aeryn's mouth opens and closes, and she takes a second before nodding. "Go," she tells him, still firing as she moves for the door.

John moves to the door but he doesn't let her leave his sight. He's not letting her change her mind.

The only reason Aeryn stops is to give cover fire from the doorway. "Sam!" she calls.

"Coming!" Sam yelled as she ran, keeping herself as low as possible so she didn't get hit by the cover fire.

"Thanks," she said as passed Aeryn on her way through the doorway. "Is it time to go yet?"

"Yes," Peter said. "Just give me a second here."

Peter fired a large web at the doorway, emptying his web cartridge just to make sure it held up to any pulse blasts for a little longer.

"Okay, that should give us some extra time. Let's go!"

"You all know where we're parked," she says, hoping they actually did park, and that nothing was stolen.

She waves the others on, wanting to bring up the rear, and she only looks back once.

"This way," Luke said with a pleased smile. He pointed to a sleek black ship. "We borrowed Vader's TIE fighter, too!"

"Borrowed?" Sam snickered, walking quickly towards the ships, but not running. "Sounds like a very creative rewriting of the facts, Luke."

Isabel laughed and then turned to Peter. "I call shotgun for the ride back."

"Doesn't matter," Peter said, following Isabel. "I'll just hang off the side. I can breathe in space, after all."
