Feeling like a good workout post-early morning cooking, Lee bounds into the gym smelling like ginger and orange and then stops in his tracks. Oh frak.

A little involved in beating the hell out of something that can't fight back, Aeryn doesn't even notice there's anyone there.

As she's either ignoring him or hasn't seen him yet, Lee wonders if he can just quietly walk backwards out of the gym and pretend he never was here in the first place. Unfortunately, he trips over a misplaced water bottle and unceremoniously falls on his ass.

She turns at the sound, and upon seeing Lee, she's not really sure how to react. She knew this conversation was going to have to happen.

So she turns back around and hits the punching bag. Harder.

Lee groans and rolls his eyes. If Caroline Adama hadn't been such a good mother, he would have audiably sighed, "women!"

Getting to his feet and steeling himself, he walked over to her. Might as well get it over with since obviously John hasn't talked to her yet.

"Aeryn," he says. "Um -- about the thing...," and there goes Lee's ability to coherently speak. He inwardly kicks himself.

She turns back to him. "Yes, where you kissed John. What about it," she snaps, and turns her attention to the bag once again.

"Look. It happened. And it happened a ridiculously long time ago. A lot of things changed since then and for what it's worth, I'm sorry. At the time, I didn't know you at all and even then, there wasn't any malice on my part," he says as earnestly as he can.

That makes sense. It does. "He and I were together at the time, you know. We were fighting. But we were together."

"I'm sorry, Aeryn," he says quietly. "It's inexcusable, I know. I really can't offer up anything other than the fact that I'm really sorry and that I would never, ever wish to come between you two."

Lee feels this so completely as he knows that if Kara had kissed someone else... oh gods.

"He loves you so much, Aeryn."

"It's funny, but every time John and I fight, I have someone telling me how much he loves me. I don't need to be told that."

She pauses, shucking one of the gloves off her hand, then the other. "I always had a feeling you didn't like me, but thought I was being paranoid. So how much of the time you and I spent together afterwards actually had anything to do with me?"

Lee's taken aback at this. "It had everything to do with you, Aeryn. I wanted to get to know you better, figure out why it was that my best friend was head over heels for you. I know that now."

That wouldn't sting except for the fact that the kiss had happened first. She'll let that go, though. "Why did it happen?" she asks.

Lee's a bit confused. "The Lee-Wants-To-Get-To-Know-Aeryn-Better thing or the kissing thing?"

"The kissing thing." She hates that she can call it that.

Lee goes for honesty as he is a man of principles… okay, a teenager of principles at the moment. “Well, I hardly remember it,” he says, “It was after that weekend where Parker made John think he was Cameron and Cameron think he was John or something or whatever. And they were just furious afterwards and John wanted to get drunk. One generous helping of ambrosia too many and…it happened. Nothing was meant by it, nothing came out of it.” He pauses. “And I swear by everything holy that there has been no repeat of such events. John’s my best friend. End of story.”

Aeryn nods slowly, and with a couple days to have thought this over, she can't find anything to get angry about in that. Well, she can, but it's nothing she hasn't aready thought about. "Thanks for, um. Being honest."
