Jus In Bello Report - Roman Holiday
Hey guys - as I promised:
Here's the first part of my report of the Jus In Bello Convention in Rome ^_^
Thursday
I seriously don’t know how I could get any sleep at all from Wednesday to Friday… when I got up in the morning I finished packing, kissed and hugged my little girl (my cat Phoebe) and headed to the train station. Met Elke (shadow1a) there and together we went on to Frankfurt airport where we met up with Myriam (wingfrog).
Then the first of a lot of amazing things in a row happened to us… we were standing there and talking about the LA Con which had had been at the weekend before the Rome Convention. Of course we were speaking German all the time… then, suddenly, a tall woman right before us turned around and asked us with a very sweet smile, if we would attend the Italian Supernatural Convention. Of course we were like: WTF? And answered ‘yes’.
You can imagine our jaws dropping when she told us that she is actually the agent of Misha Collins O_O!!! We chatted a little and then lost her, cause she was sitting in the front of the plane while we were seated in the back. After our arrival in Rome we met her again while waiting for our luggage and she told us that her name was Julie and that she’s also the agent of Rob Benedict (Chuck) and Julie McNiven (Anna) and that she’d be at the Roman Holiday as well. So we said goodbye and - finally freaked out XD
OMG you can’t believe how incredibly happy we were…
We had a hard time finding our way to the Hilton Hotel but after we checked in and checked out our room we met up with PurpleNurple (loveinadoorway ), Padackles (pada_r_grey ), Angie (metalamazon) and a lot of other girls in the lobby. Some of us went to the airport again to get something to eat, while the others reserved some chairs at the bar of the Hotel. We partied like all night and had so much fun, I can’t even begin to tell you how much I enjoyed this first evening. It was the perfect start!!

We wanted to pick up Becky (ellethdartagnan) from the airport later that evening but her plane got cancelled and she had a hard time getting to Rome at all… so we all got very little sleep that night.
Friday
To be honest… we didn’t sleep… at all… we were so tired but oh so excited about the next day and especially myself, because I had booked the Roman Holiday, a VIP tour through Rome with Misha Collins (Castiel), Richard Speight Jr. (Trickster) and Traci Dinwiddie (Pamela). There had been some complications in the beginning but finally we were sitting in the bus, waiting for this amazing experience to start.

Lena (Lensve) sat next to me and was all “Oh they won’t be on the same bus as we, I'm sure we will meet them at the destination.” - you can imagine our jaws dropping (yes, I will use that expression very often in the upcoming entries) when Misha, Richard and Traci got on our bus and sat down just few metres away from us o_O

Becky and typo were waiting in front of the Hotel to wave me goodbye and since Becky is Richard’s No 1 Fan she of course nearly fainted when he walked by them and shouted “Good Morning” over to them and smiled… I could see even from the bus (and it’s been about 50 metres away) that she was shaking XDDD~
Before the actors got into the bus we were all so excited, giggling and nearly screaming - but when they got in we were all very calm and everyone was greeting them very politely. No one squeed or approached them or anything. I was amazed by how polite and well behaved we all acted (I actually was very scared of some of the other fans before…)

Then Daniela, the head organizer of the Convention got in and told us were we’re heading and that we would be not allowed to send text messages or tweets about the location we’re going to due to security measures. Of course we were all ok with that and the bus finally started.
We were driving about 10 minutes to a place called Ostia Antica (http://www.ostia-antica.org/), which actually is a ruin of a town outside of Rome (near the ancient harbour). First Lena and me were a little disappointed that we weren’t going to Rome itself but after everything we experienced there is nothing I could possibly complain about - and it would have been crazy to go to the centre of Rome on Easter.

When we arrived, we got off the bus, the bus driver almost overran Misha by accident cause he had been standing in the way (XDDDDD) and we were approaching the entrance of Ostia Antica.
Our guide was a little shy and uncertain in the beginning and she had an accent so it was sometimes quite hard to follow her explanations but I think she did a great job in the end! Actually Misha said after a while:
"I didn't understand a thing she said the last 20 minutes..."
And I shrugged my shoulders, smiled and said, that he's not the only one ;)
We took a group shot at the entrance and then got further into the city.
At the beginning the actors were pretty much alone, noone dared to talk to them XDDD
So I decided to be one of the crazy fans to break the ice and got over to Misha and said:
“Hi Misha, I’m Ines!”
And he was shaking my hand and said: “Hi Ines, are you German?”
XDDDDDDDDDDD OMG I died laughing at that moment. It’s a greeting only Misha could do!! We talked a little and he said he hadn’t been in Rome before and that he’ll stay a few days after the Con and do some sightseeing.
Later we stopped at an amphitheatre and took another group shot and Misha was shouting:
“Okay everyone, let’s all smile and pretend we like each other!” - and put his arm around me O____O!!!
I nearly DIED at this moment (again)!!

While we proceeded the tour I got to talk to Richard about the orange boxer brief prank he had planned for Misha and we were thinking about possible moments, to hand them to Misha. It was just very nice and relaxing talking to him, it was awesome!

I took a picture of Julie in front of the ruins for her 7-year-old son at home and later we made a photo together at an old mill. It’s been so funny, because the guide had talked about the mills and Richard and Misha understood “myths” and were like: WTF?! all the time.
When Daniela corrected the guide Misha was rolling his eyes sarcastically and mumbling: “It makes so much more sense now…”

When we reached the thermal baths of the city we rested a little and I finally got the German Haribo gummy bears out of my bag and offered them to the other girls and boys attending. Richard didn’t want any, Traci got some - and then Misha came. He gladly took a small bag of gummy bears and ate them like at once XD

We got inside a former ‘restaurant’ and sat down a little, when Traci joined us. We talked a little, she admired my metallic pink camera with The Little Mermaid stickers on it and we took a photo.
While we were moving on I carried the gummy bears in my hands in case anyone would want more of them. And then it happened… when we were stopping at a temple a hand came from behind, pulling at the bag. Of course I was pulling back, but it kept tugging. So I turned around, raising my hand, ready to slap the sneaky thief’s hand - when I looked into Misha’s grinning face XDDDDDDDDD

I scolded him for being so devious and told him, he just could’ve asked nicely but he only smiled and asked:
“Why? It’s working pretty well this way!”
So of course I gave him another pack of gummy bears XDDDD

We soon reached the end of the tour and everyone was so sad that we just slowed down on our way back to the bus and could talk to the actors a little more. I don’t quite know what else I talked to Misha about but we had a very nice and relaxed conversation. Just before we left the ruins I asked Misha, if he would want another bag of gummy bears but he was just grinning and said:
“I already had 4 packs, thank you!”
Srsly, I knew about 3 packs - but where the hell did he get the 4th from!? That man is just - not - human XDDD
Actually I hadn’t had left any more gummy bears already and so I waved with the empty bag and said:
“Good thing, the bag’s empty anyway XD”
and he grinned and with this sneaky, lovely smile of his he said something like:
“So you wanted to prank me? Well, shit happens :P ”
Just before we got on the bus again, one girl asked Misha if they could make a picture and of course he said ‘yes’. Then I thought “Oh, what the hell” and asked him as well… and I can’t describe how happy I’ve been at this moment when he put his arm around me and smiled his lovely smile…
We walked further and the bus was just arriving - and once again Misha was standing in the way and almost got overran by the bus for the SECOND TIME XDDDDDDDD~
I was like: “Misha, don’t get yourself killed!! We still need you!!”
When everyone got in the bus safe and sound we returned to the Hilton Hotel and said goodbye to everyone. Just when we arrived, we saw Jim Beaver (Bobby) walking towards the entrance of the Hotel and we waved like crazy and he waved back XDD~
In the lobby Richard and Jim talked a little and of course there were many fans but they were standing around them in at least a 3 metre radius. Srsly - I’m so proud that the fans had been so polite to everyone, I think it left a very good impression on the actors.
Well, that’s my review of the Roman Holiday… I’m sure I forgot so much details but it has been the most amazing event ever and I think it’s just not possible to remember every second of it. I just hope, Willow (the girl who took the group shots and other pictures with her amazing kick-ass camera) will manage to upload her photos asap so I can show you some more impressions. But for now you have to be content with the one’s I took ^^
