I've just realised that I've been billed for £7.99 a month for the last ten months or so, for phone insurance. Again with Phones4U promising to call me to check whether I wanted to continue the policy and not actually doing so. That's a hundred quid down the drain - and that's on top of the money I lost due to the whole
debacle with expired rebates and such.
The most irritating thing is that I specifically checked my bank statement a few months back to see whether I was being billed, and came to the conclusion that I wasn't - because the insurance Terms and Conditions say charges would be billed from "Policy Admin Serv" (a misleading name if there was ever one), but since a while ago they've been using "PAS" instead. Unfortunately, since I'm in Dundee and all my documentation is in Glasgow, I can't cancel this until I get back home.
On top of all of this, the insurance is fairly useless - it doesn't even cover the phone being stolen or left in a public place, both of which I would peg as the most likely cause of my phone being lost.
Bloody rip-off merchants - I wish I could do something, but as the assurances of "Oh, we'll give you a phone about the insurance after a month, then about the tariff at six months" were all verbal, I don't think I even have a leg to stand on. All I can say is that if anyone ever thinks of buying a contract phone from Phones4U - just walk away, it's not worth it. You get a much better deal online anyway.
