Laptop, continued.
I now have another laptop. This is my fourth ^^; (old P233 from surgery (Angstrom, which is now my server), the desktop replacement lump (Arcturus), a P2xx I got for free from System Support because its HD is faulty, and now this.)
It's a Compaq Armada M300, and it's shineh. Magnesium body, weighs about 1.5lb, less than 3cm thick when closed. At some point, I need to install Linux on it ^^ It's only a P500, but it's got 192Mb of RAM and appears to run Knoppix quite satisfactorarily.
Currently I'm using Knoppix, because the built-in Ethernet doesn't seem to work properly, and Win2K doesn't seem to have much in the way of built-in functionality for wireless ethernet. I'll probably get around to installing Debian once I'm less tired.
Also, had lunch today with Nate's mum. It's only the third or fourth time I've seen her in the over two years we've been going out. Went shopping for various stuff, then went to Ichiban for lunch, which was lovely. I was roasting in the hot weather, so I had chilled soba noodles with a soy-mirin-and-vinegar dipping sauce, while Nate and his mum had noodles (beef chilli ramen and ichiban udon respectively.) We also shared plates of squid teriyaki (yummy - and I don't normally even like squid), steak rolled around garlic mushrooms in teriyaki sauce (OMG-inducingly tasty), California rolls (which were interesting: I've never actually eaten fish roe before) and miso soup.
After lunch, we ended up shopping again - she was looking for a messenger bag, and I ended up with one as well as a belated birthday present after she'd berated Nate for not telling me about my 21st birthday ^^; It is, incidentally, the perfect size for this laptop o.O
Anyway, I'm tired due to not getting much sleep last night, so snooze time... zzz
