Stood up

So, today I was meant to be going through to Edinburgh for some sort of conference or workshop thing for Fusion Radio. I'd been asked to go by Blair, since he had been unable to attend due to a tutorial.

He asked me on Monday and on Monday night texted me to tell me to get in touch with Iain Delworth, who's the Convener of Comms and Marketing for the Union. Of course, his email isn't anywhere to be found on the Union website, unlike every other member of the Union Exec. Useful.

So I headed in on Tuesday before the GeekMeet, to see if I could find someone who would tell me how to get in touch with him. Happily, I bumped into the man himself inside the Union, and he took my contact details and told me to meet him outside the union at 8:30 Wednesday morning.

Now, Wednesdays I'm normally off. So, I went to bed early, woke up at 6:30am, took the train in and arrived outside the Union at 8:15. Waited for 45 minutes. No sign of Iain, or anyone else who might be going in the Edinburgh direction. No phone call to say he'd be late or absent. Blair wandered past a couple of times, and gave me Iain's phone number, which turned out to belong to some random English guy.

Of course, this all having been arranged in such a rush, nobody had seen fit to actually tell me what the name of the event was, what time it took place, and where in Edinburgh it was. So I've ended up sitting in the Livie Tower when I could be home a) getting some sleep, b) playing the copy of Unreal Tournament 2004 that came through my door this morning, then c) reading Neil Gaiman's American Gods, which I began last night. Oh, and d) not spending £3.10 on a train I normally wouldn't have to get on a Wednesday.

Meh.
