Cameron sat in his apartment, a ice pack over his eyes and nursing a stiff drink, sitting in the dark. John came in, flipping on lights and carrying a load of bags. He entered, dropping them in the kitchen and walked out with a dubious look. "Cam?"
"I'm dead. Ask me tomorrow."
"If you were dead, wouldn't I be fighting off a zombie tomorrow?"
Cam started laughing and groaned, sitting up as the ice pack fell off his eyes and revealed two very black eyes.
John's eyes went wide. "What the hell happened to you?"
"Mrs. Elliott on the third floor."
John took a seat and barely kept from chuckling. "She's eighty. How did she give you two black eyes?"
"No. I was helping her with a package that was delivered today. The UPS guy was having trouble because the damn thing was a weird shape so I got it maneuvered up the stairs to her apartment. We rang the bell, but she didn't answer, didn't answer, didn't answer... so I popped the lock, thinking she might be fallen or something like that. She busted my face and almost broke my nose with her cane."
John looked at how miserable he looked and started laughing out loud. "I'm sorry... I'm so sorry, Cam but only you could get clocked by an old lady's cane for doing a good deed."
"Laugh it up, Bug Boy," Cam snarked at him with a wry grin.
"Oh. I will," John promised, leaning in to kiss his lips. "There. All better?"
"It's a start. Kiss me again."
John obliged, kissing him much deeper.
"Getting there..." Cam told him.
John chuckled softly and let Cam wrap his arms around him, kissing Cam's moist lips.
